3.5/5 Good coffee but very small size for standard cup. It was more like a teacup and came to $6.50 with almond milk (+ 10% surcharge, see below). Lovely corner spot with booth style and normal table seating. Service was quick but a little cold to be honest. A more personable service would suit the venue & be more memorable. QR ordering was very clunky 1. You had to sign up to place order 2. Menu item disappeared after entering in payment details so had to go back and edit the order 3. 10% "peak period surcharge"..assuming it was because Sunday? Ordered the mushrooms with miso butter, crispy kale and enoki ($25). It sounded better than the execution but they were small things that added up (enoki was dry and chewy, bread was on stale side, dish was a little greasy - needed something fresh to cut through like some avo, a salsa or even pickled carrots & daikon). Mushrooms - $25 Latte - $6.50 Takeaway latte - $6 Almond croissant - $7.50 +10% surcharge Don't mind the prices if everything was on point...but missed the mark this time.

Overall rating of 63/100 PROS: This place has a great variety on the menu, and the serving sizes were massive. The strawberry ricotta toast was probably the standout dish for me in the all out splurging of our group. I still crave it from time to time! My acai bowl also tasted great, but beware ordering it on a colder morning as it is freezing and also super sweet. Cons: Aside from the dishes above, the other ones were really fairly average tasting and quite standard fare (eg simple B&E on toast). The prices for these dishes is extremely unjustifiably high, and I don't understand the Mornington premium that appears to have been placed on these. Definitely a set up targetting tourists/visitors in the area. The service also is quite average, with some level of tardiness on requests. The QR ordering system is also not made clear to guests, so those who are more unassuming may miss this (not us, as we got onto it straight away). The coffee is certainly also quite standard fare by high Melbourne coffee standards

This place is usually really nice and the coffee is good. I’ve only ever had take away before and this was the first time I dined in, and sadly it was a bit underwhelming. The coffee was tepid and the food was ridiculously overpriced. I think this might be a problem with their online ordering system. I got the smashed avo pictured. It’s listed as coming with feta but I had to pay extra for vegan feta - 3.50 for the serve you see 😮. My friend had the same but with an egg and both cost $32! Yikes. I said something to the server but she was very young and probably didn’t have the experience to know how to deal with a complaint like that. Not her fault, that’s a management issue. It was also packed and we had about four or five different servers. Just not a very nice vibe, although the staff are lovely and tried their best. For that money, I’d expect a higher standard of service. I recommend getting take away and having it on the beach.

HIGHWAY ROBBERY IN THE MIDDLE OF SORRENTO!

My friends and I came down to Rye for a weekend away, and after perusing the menu online, we were enticed by what looked like a seemingly appealing array of dishes. This illusion came to a grinding halt the moment we set foot into the establishment. Firstly, it took us over 5 minutes to even be acknowledged. Three staff members walked past until a man finally seated us. They escorted us to a table that was not even set for the amount of people we had booked in for, and had dirty glasses on it. We then began to order through the online ordering service (which had a card surcharge which was unavoidable as the servers don’t actually serve you) and were greeted by the same dishes with inflated prices to those posted on the menu on this cafes website. $10 for an iced latte?!?!? No deal Buckley. The food arrived at different intervals despite us all ordering within seconds of each other, and we were given a generous helping of disappointment and regret. The average cost was around $40 per person and every single item ordered was extremely underwhelming and severely overpriced. Special shout-out to the fritters that were rubbery, and tasteless. The chicken baguette from the display window must’ve been sitting there for at least 3 days, as it was dry, stale and practically inedible. We were only able to get through half of it before the lockjaw set in. At this point, we were dying to get out of this white-walled prison. Travellers, beware: this cafe is the definition of a catfish. From the outside it looks beautiful, chic and inviting. But once you’re inside, prepare to spend all of your life savings for subpar food...

I am a local ,work in street and very proud of Sorrento so feel sad to only give 1 ⭐️ score ,which ive only given because of location….service ,atmosphere and food deserves 0. A small group of us decided to try somewhere else for coffee etc ,lots of tables free and available,we lined up for a while waiting to be served ,staff walked past without acknowledgment, even a smile ,some staff were chatting inside ,,I watched 3 different groups leave because the queue was getting longer and go somewhere else obviously couldn’t be bothered waiting ,I finally got rudely spoken to by a staff member who told me you can only order via QR code even though there was a lady doing nothing behind till ,I explained I didn’t have a phone, had waited in a queue for at least 15 mins he gave a impatient, nasty look and bad altitude and impatiently gave me permission to get served by till lady doing nothing. I communicated our order with one coffee having soy milk because of lactose intolerance and was told they were to busy to change milk types 🤨😳😡 We got up after waiting all that time and went to our regular who greeted us happily, gave us what we asked for and found no problem in serving us in person. Will never go back and when I work in my retail business in my street will never recommend if asked which I often am which is best place to go for coffee ,breakfast or lunch. I also felt sad for the couple with a little upset baby who had also waited patiently behind me in the line to be seated or served to also rudely told use QR code or basically get stuffed ☹️ Bad ,disappointing system needs to changed and...

We always visit this place when we come to Sorrento beach, it’s our final pit stop before we go home. I used to love the milkshakes that came in the tall metal cups (reminded me of home and away watching as a kid in the uk) but since the change over they just come in glasses which is fine.

We usually just find a seat to sit at, today we did have to queue but we didn’t have to wait to long. Staff seemed friendly and attentive, there is one guy not sure if he’s the owner or manager but seems to always be there, he was very friendly and efficient.

Our meals came out first, would of preferred the drinks but not a big issue. My milkshake came next, we had finished food but two drinks were still missing. I asked a staff member who got onto it and we had received them in no time.

I thought I would share out experience with the app order on the table, we usually struggle to find what we want on it … ie. toasties. So we just scan the app for what we want, then one of us will go in and order, just in the doorway is a very small counter and done one will attend to your order. (Usually the guy I mentioned above)

Todays total was quite expensive, over $100 for 3 meals and 3 drinks, and the meals weren’t fancy. I know it’s public holiday so there’s a surcharge plus they have to pay penalties, but overall a great experience.

We will definitely be back, hopefully Melbourne weather is nice next weekend for...
