Dinner at @burmesehouse_richmond from a while ago: Delicious modern take on Burmese food. We went on a weekday and it was pretty quiet, but we ordered a bunch of stuff and they were all super tasty. They were super friendly 😊😊. . La Phet Thout (Tea Leaf Salad) - The National Dish of Myanmar - Pickled Tea Leaves with Dried Shrimps, Diced Tomato, Shredded Cabbage and a Variety of Fried Peas, Peanuts, Garlic, Sesame Seeds: this is a must have when you have Burmese food. So delicious! Lots of yummy flavours and ingredients ☺️☺️. . Ba Yar Kyaw (Chickpea Fritters) with Tamarind sauce: super tasty with the tamarind sauce! . Yangon Kauk Swe (Rangoon Noodle) - Wok-fried Thick Egg Noodle, Chicken, Egg, Shallot, Assorted Greens, Spring Onion: this is like a fairly standard stir fried noodles dish. Nicely done. . Curries: all the curries were quite mild in terms of spiciness, and were all super yummy 🤤🤤🤤. Tamarind Lamb: Curry Leaves, Burmese Chilli Paste in Rich Savoury and Tangy Tamarind Chilli Chicken: Tomato, Burmese Chilli Paste, coated in Savoury and Tangy Dry Curry Sauce Eggplant: Powdered Shrimp, Fermented Shrimp Paste, Burmese Chilli Paste in Rich Savoury Curry . Read moreLiterally just before lockdown part 2, my partner and I had dinner here again.
The service is lovely, really genuinely friendly and happy.
The beers like Mountain Goat Organic Steam Ale is great and the food very good.
The list of vegetarian dishes were limited but we shared a sour vegetable curry. The curry had a nice mild flavour with a small amount of vegetables.
I had a lamb curry which had some good flavour and the meat was tender.
The servings appeared small, but they were suprisingly filling.
The service was quick and attentive. I'd happily go back again.
Unfortunately I deleted some of my photos so now I'll have to go back lol!
Previous review - October 2018 One of the main reasons I initially started food blogging, was to travel the world of food with my partner and to try different cuisines in Melbourne. And I haven't eaten Burmese before so I was excited to visit this restaurant.
I had dinner here w my partner and we enjoyed some great food. W a kitchen in the middle of the restaurant I felt like I was at home, well almost lol
We stared w roti bread which was ok but the chickpea sauce was delicious.
For mains we had a chicken and cashew dish which was amazing, so tasty! The chicken was great and the sauce was excellent.
The other main we enjoyed was egg noodles w chicken coconut masala green curry. This was really tasty too. We were given some dried chilli to accompany this dish, which was good as this dish lacked some spice for me.
But overall the service was good and the concept excellent. I’d be happy to go...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious food and really unique flavours! I pride myself on being well versed in relation to most cuisine's but this was my first time trying Burmese food and it truly did not disappoint!
While each dish had amazing depth of flavour they still individually maintained quite an intricate balance which is very difficult to master. Myself and my friend absolutely adored every dish!
The service was superb and I cannot begin to say how refreshing it was to have a dinner with a close friend and actually be able to hear (especially as I am deaf in one ear) and have a decent conversation.
The atmosphere was so warm, inviting and oddly comforting, almost like I was eating at someone's family home,. During my time there I felt like the rest of the world faded away and I was truly present rather than being distracted by what was going on around me.
I highly recommend!
Thankyou, team! Keep up the great work, I shall...
