Callé Bakery is viral for a reason. To simply say, "it's amazing" would be an understatement, the croissant wheels are addictively good. I've been a couple of times within the past few months and I have loved every single pastry of theirs that I have tried. On my first visit, I tried a cinnamon twist and it was heavenly; imagine a cinnamon doughnut but as a croissant. For $4.50, it's a cheap and tasty treat.

However, if you're willing to spend more (and trust me, it's worth it) I recommend their croissant wheels. I tried their tiramisu croissant wheel in June and it surpassed my expectations. The filling had a lovely subtle coffee flavour and a little pipette of coffee which perfectly complimented the flaky and butter layers of croissant.

I've also tried the July specials, their chocolate hazelnut praline (Ferrero) croissant and the sticky date pudding croissant. The Ferrero croissant was heavenly; jam-packed with a divine chocolate hazelnut filling (it's so good that I wish I could buy it by the bucket). The other July flavour was also quite enjoyable with a lovely brown sugar date filling and a generous drizzle of butterscotch on the outside.

Pro Tip: If you're buying for more than one person, get a croissant wheel each because once you take a bite, you'll want it all to yourself (learn from my mistake).

My only nitpick is that it was quite hot inside the bakery when I last visited which makes waiting a little uncomfortable for lack of a better term though I understand since the store was super busy and the staff seemed a little stressed. It would also be nice if there was a least one permanent croissant wheel flavour though I understand the allure of monthly specials.

In short, if you love good croissants, you must try Callé Bakery - you...

December 2024: Been back monthly since and quality and creativity has not been compromised. I feel my judgement is much more critical so would say the moistness and texture is compromised by its beautiful complex exterior when creating the croissant wheels. However, flavour inside is made with care and love. Asian flavoured custard tastes just like the real deal. Staff are the sweetest people that are attentive despite the messy crowd they attract.

October 2022: My love for almond croissants stays warm and toasty just like these freshly baked pastries from Calle Bakery. Highly recommend their signature, Yuzu Honey Sea Salt croissant, as well as their most popular, Almond Croissant. Their Choc Hazelnut croissant is just as good, if you like your chocolate.

Pretty much have tried all the croissants, particularly almond croissants and they definitely do not disappoint.

Each element of the Yuzu croissant, the citrusy kick with the rich honey glaze, sprinkled with a bit of sea salt is such a simple unprecedented combination of flavours that works so harmoniously. Definitely giving the top patisseries in Melbourne a run for their money.

Head to this amazing smelling bakery in the morning as they freshly bake it. Super soft and buttery, with a good crispy exterior - not too flaky but the type of croissants they serve here don’t really need it.

Also got the brekkie roll which was divine. You can tell they use high quality ingredients. Coffee, cannot go unsaid. Got an almond flat white, which was super hot yet did not taste burnt. The coffee was super velvety and smooth.

Would probably be my go-to if it was closer. So cheap, and super accomodating to your requests! Will pop in next time to try their weekend specials.

Calle Bakery never disappoints! đŸ„ The cookie croissant is rich and chocolatey, banoffee croissant is sweet and creamy, Mont Blanc drink is smooth, and the iced pistachio strawberry matcha (oat) is perfectly nutty and fruity. Every bite is fresh, flaky, and full of flavor. 🌿🍓☕ #callebakery #genastar
