Seriously, Chai Garden in Balwyn is the spot! It's cozy, warm, and just feels like home the moment you step in. The chai? Absolutely top-notch. They've got a whole menu of different types, but my personal winner has to be the masala chai - it's like a warm hug in a cup. And don't get me started on the food - fresh, packed with flavour, and just plain delicious. You can tell these guys take the time to make sure everything's just right. We had vadapav, ulta vada pav, sabu dana khichidi, missal paav and besan ka laddu The owner was super friendly too, always ready with a smile, he helped us with some important tips, made our missal more spicy on request. So, if you're in the mood for amazing chai, great food, and a relaxed, friendly vibe, do yourself a favour and check out Chai Garden. It's got the good stuff.

Initially I was sceptical about the 5 star ratings after 40 plus reviews but after visiting today, I have no hesitation to give 5 stars and recommend to my friends and family. This is not the typical indian restaurant as the menu is highly creative and influenced from Maharashtra ( a state in India). We tried the vada pav, Bombay sandwich, aloo paratha and chai and every item was good. There are some more items on the menu that need another couple of visits. And lastly, the owner is so passionate about his work and takes personal interest in explaining the menu and giving suggestions to customers ( when and where required).

Was in Balwyn around 3pm Sunday, when most of the cafes have closed, I found a little cosy cafe which I still can fix my coffee need. Ordered a latte to start, while having a little trouble to choose from the menu, a sweet waitress came and offered assistance in choosing something light for me. She was so pleasant, helpful and attentive, her recommendation is just what I need. It was so yummy ..... Ordered their Massala Chai too, came with 2 pcs of little biscuits. All the staffs there are so friendly and made you so relax and comfy . Definitely will come back for more other food.

I didn’t get a chance to try everything but definitely out of what I ate, the Potato Parothas, Pani Puri, Phav Bhajee; Dahi Vadha and Bombay Sandwhiches were all star dishes, made with care and in a family friendly environment.

The owner came out to greet and personally take our orders and he advised they were a little understaffed so expect service is delayed 20 min - hence I gave them 5/5 because they still worked hard to take our large group’s orders, and delivered in closer to 15 min. The water jugs were always topped off and they serviced a decent chai, they no longer provide fresh paan, but hardly anyone does in Melbourne, so overall a great little cafe that is punching above it’s class with some of their lunch dishes. I would definitely go back and try a few...

One of the best authentic Indian food experiences I’ve had! The flavors were absolutely spot on – the parathas were perfectly crisp yet soft inside, served with creamy curd that had just the right spice kick. The misal pav was rich, spicy, and bursting with flavor, topped with crunchy farsan and fresh onions – just like home. The pav was fresh and soft, and the pakoras were crispy, full of stuffing, and paired beautifully with the chutneys.

The presentation was clean, the portion sizes generous, and everything tasted fresh. The ambiance was warm, and service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend this place if you want real, authentic Indian street-style food in a restaurant setting. Definitely coming...
