I thought i would give it a try since I was staying in the punthill appaments across the road. Called when they opened at 6pm to order a pick up and was told they don't do carry out, but they had an $18 buffet on, so why not I'll give it a try on a Tuesday night..
Don't know why they have a high review rate! Tried a bit of everything that was on offer and Meh was ok, I tried the beef curry and found that it was less than warm, So informed them. Nothing was done to warm the food up. For a food container the size it was having a small burner under it to keep it just above cold was not enough should have 3 at least... Not warm enough to kill any bacteria.
So I was told wait 5 min for it to warm up I did still the same. I informed one of the STAFF, Was told to stir it it will get warmer... So I did! Still the same if. Not it was less warm. As the other part of the container didn't have any flame to heat it so mixing in cold meat with the not so warm.
At least the rice had steam coming from it so you could tell it was properly warm.
Ran out of nan breads, informed them, 20 min ago still nothing.
Most disappointing buffet I have had, not even 1 of the usual popular dishes were Put on...
Please. Don't waste your time or money. Get 1 from. Uber eats you will enjoy it better. Staff are reasonably polite but give more attention to any big group that's in and forget about you.
Won't...
Read moreWe had a fantastic night at the Tuesday night buffet. It’s exactly as advertised. A warm, generous meal in unpretentious surroundings. We loved the food. There is so much variety on offer. Our favourites were the chicken, beef and vegetable dishes and especially the egg curry which I’d never had anywhere else l. The staples were also great including rice, roti and there was plenty of raita and chutney on offer. There was so much to eat and it was encouraged that you try a bit of everything and, importantly, dishes were quickly replenished. I saw one guy have four large plates! Apart from the egg curry, my favourite was the lassi which was exceptional. Overall what I loved about this meal was the superb range of spices. All dishes had serious flavour and to us, good heat just pitched just at the right level.
Service was lovely throughout the night and the overall cost of the experience seemed very modest to us.
Thank you for this experience. A terrific place
PS - we ran into an Indian chap and mentioned in passing that we were going to Kerala next year. The man volunteered that he thought that the Coconut Lagoon offered the best Kerala cuisine in Melbourne. Thank you so...
