We had a fantastic night at the Tuesday night buffet. It’s exactly as advertised. A warm, generous meal in unpretentious surroundings. We loved the food. There is so much variety on offer. Our favourites were the chicken, beef and vegetable dishes and especially the egg curry which I’d never had anywhere else l. The staples were also great including rice, roti and there was plenty of raita and chutney on offer. There was so much to eat and it was encouraged that you try a bit of everything and, importantly, dishes were quickly replenished. I saw one guy have four large plates! Apart from the egg curry, my favourite was the lassi which was exceptional. Overall what I loved about this meal was the superb range of spices. All dishes had serious flavour and to us, good heat just pitched just at the right level. Service was lovely throughout the night and the overall cost of the experience seemed very modest to us. Thank you for this experience. A terrific place PS - we ran into an Indian chap and mentioned in passing that we were going to Kerala next year. The man volunteered that he thought that the Coconut Lagoon offered the best Kerala cuisine in Melbourne. Thank you so much for the tip

If there was anything called customer service in Australia , You would certainly find it here. Rare authentic South Indian restaurant Starting from typical keral fish curry to sweet ending Payesam is extraordinary. North Indian dishes are good too compared to any North Indian restaurant in Melbourne and believe me I have eaten everywhere but it's not extraordinary like their south Indian dishes . They do buffets also at some days of the week. Main Dishes can take sometime to prepare however it's a good to call prior and order if you are always too hungry like me so you don't waste time waiting.I felt restaurant is slightly under utilized and choice of music can be better . However for me best South Indian restaurant I ve eaten in last 5 years because of amazing food and traditional ambience with excellent service.(Alex and team)

Do not waste your time going to this place. Made the trek all the way to Heidelberg only to be disappointed by the customer service and even worse food. There was several pieces hair in the lamb curry, I've traveled extensively and I am aware of the fact that this can happen and it's never done on purpose. What irked me was when I casually mentioned it to the guy working the tables, he responded with "What do you want me to do about it?". There are better places to get south indian food in Melbourne. We were served food 90 minutes after we placed our order. Party of 3. We were told after the 90 mins, some of the items we ordered were no longer available. They didn even offer an apology. In short do not waste your time going to this below par place.

I thought i would give it a try since I was staying in the punthill appaments across the road. Called when they opened at 6pm to order a pick up and was told they don't do carry out, but they had an $18 buffet on, so why not I'll give it a try on a Tuesday night..

Don't know why they have a high review rate! Tried a bit of everything that was on offer and Meh was ok, I tried the beef curry and found that it was less than warm, So informed them. Nothing was done to warm the food up. For a food container the size it was having a small burner under it to keep it just above cold was not enough should have 3 at least... Not warm enough to kill any bacteria.

So I was told wait 5 min for it to warm up I did still the same. I informed one of the STAFF, Was told to stir it it will get warmer... So I did! Still the same if. Not it was less warm. As the other part of the container didn't have any flame to heat it so mixing in cold meat with the not so warm.

At least the rice had steam coming from it so you could tell it was properly warm.

Ran out of nan breads, informed them, 20 min ago still nothing.

Most disappointing buffet I have had, not even 1 of the usual popular dishes were Put on...

Please. Don't waste your time or money. Get 1 from. Uber eats you will enjoy it better. Staff are reasonably polite but give more attention to any big group that's in and forget about you.

Won't...

An absolute gem in the heart of Australia! This South Indian restaurant offers an incredible selection of authentic Kerala dishes and Toddy (fermented coconut palm sap), which is a rare find in the country. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, perfectly complementing the rich and flavorful dishes.

From the moment you take your first bite, you'll be transported straight to Kerala. The dishes are prepared with meticulous attention to detail, using traditional recipes and fresh ingredients that capture the essence of Kerala's culinary heritage. The Toddy is a delightful and unique addition, providing an authentic taste that’s hard to come by outside of India.

Whether you're a fan of spicy curries, fragrant biryanis, or mouthwatering seafood, this place has something to satisfy every palate. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to recommend their specialties and ensure you have a memorable dining experience.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the true flavors of Kerala cuisine. A must-visit for food enthusiasts and those longing for an authentic taste...
