I used to love visitng this business previously at the old premesis. Sadly trying their new location tonight was a disaster. Incorrect address, online booking not acknowledged, less than sub standard service, price differences between the website and menu and thats all the basic errors. Ordered the banquet and looked sideways at the seemingly undercooked chicken, should have left at that point. Mains were served and we were asked to rearrange the table (that i didnt book apparently despite having the booking reference, didnt matter no one else there anyway) so the food could fit, still okay. Saw there was literally a frozen packet mix of vegetables in one of the dishes (not hard to spot the combination) despite the meals not looking anything like i have had previously in india, in australia or in friends homes or mine, still attempted to try the sauce at least. Meat cuts were again terrible, gristle, veins, black through the chicken, sauces were nothing short of disgusting as was the rice served. I politely pointed out the issues and asked if we could just pay and leave and the staff member ignored my request and insisted on getting the 'chef' who had nothing nice to say, argued he had to use a frozen veg packet mix as the vegetables were out of season, didnt want to hear anything and i repeatedly requested to just pay and leave. Then he told us not to pay and i was a trouble maker (i live locally and get along eith every shop in main street and their staff) then the waitress told us we had to pay for the drinks, which i agreed, we only had water and 1 can of coke ordered. Then the chef said we had to pay for everything and kept yelling at me despite i had already agreed to pay i just wanted to leave as his behavioir and yelling was quite threatening. Then as i was STILL trying to pay the waitress said because we ate the entree we had to pay for that too which i agreed, i juat wanted to pay and leave. Then the chef changed his mind yet again and told me not to pay and get out! (This went on and changed about 5 times) By that stage i advised him i was now recording the erratic conversation on my phone and to please leave me alone to pay and stop yelling at me, just let me pay and leave. Should have not eaten the entree as my friend within 20 minutes both my friend and i had stomach cramps, nauesau, vomiting and well, you know what goes with that......i was polite through the whole process and non confrontational as i live very close by and shop this area frequently. I cant say i will ever return there, which is sad as it used to be a favourite of mine. I always provide credit where credit is due however this worse than a microwave meal for $8 at the shops, and being verbally abused for advising we wanted to leave as we didnt want to eat our main, and the staff insisiting we speak to their 'chef' could have easily been avoided. We would have just paid for the whole meal and left, never to return again. But given the adverse effect of the food to both of us now and the absurd abusive behavioir of the 'chef'i think it warrants 5 minutes of my time to share our experience tonight. If i could give negative stars i...
Read moreThis was one of the worst takeaways I've ever had. The chicken biriyani was literally steamed rice mixed with some obscure chicken curry (photo attached) with a heavy dose of kewra (screwpine) water/essence. The kewra scent was so overpowering that it felt like we were eating the incense filled air from an Ishka store. We would have taken it back and demanded the money back if it wasnt raining heavily that night. The only explanation I can think is that being a Sunday night, the restuarant was either not prepared for a biriyani order or ran out of biriyani. Biriyani, like a roast is not something that you whip up in 10-15m, it's always premade in every single restaurant and finished off before serving. The restaurant could have informed us when we placed the order or at very least when we picked the order, but they didn't and chose to pass off curry rice masquerading as biriyani. But, if my guess is wrong and this is their version of chicken biriyani then ,I'd recommend you give this place a pass. I am Indian and we know what an actual biriyani is supposed to be. The Rogan Josh was average but had a generous amounts of lamb pieces on the positive side. The naan and...
Read moreThe 2 stars is basically for the waitress/service, although we were given water, I had to retrieve some glasses from another table. Now the food, what can I say... obviously it is all pre-cooked & just heated up - there is just no way that our dishes could have been served that quickly otherwise. The entrée Onion Bhaji did taste nice, but was clearly frozen and probably mass-produced. My vegan partner's dish was not able to be made vegan, again this suggests pre-made as it would normally just involve substituting dairy-based cream for coconut cream. I had my go-to Beef Vindaloo, the heat was pretty ok but it lacked depth of flavour and some seasoning.... again I suspect that this was frozen/pre-made as it was watery at the bottom of the bowl. Pity the experience/food is a far cry from is described on their website....
