Visiting here is something that I'll have to live with for the rest of my life. Going to D'Lish Fish was a decision that I'll regret forever. Why, you ask? Because D'Lish Fish was undoubtedly the best fish and chip shop that I've visited in years, and I fear that they have set the bar so high that any other fish and chip shop I visit will pale in comparison. The first thing that I found when I first bit into the first chip was that it was hot. Not just warm, but the scalding heat from a chip straight from the fryer. In my humble opinion, I reckon that it took me longer to take my meal and sit down than was the time between the chips being pulled out of the fryer and served. Next, the calamari. Oh, the calamari. Never before have I experienced squid so tender. This calamari was nothing like the standard, tough and rubbery texture that I have come to expect when eating it. Instead, it required the slightest of pressure to melt in my mouth. Then I initiated into the fish. Wow. Just wow. It was simply brilliant. The fish was delicious, not overdone at all. It was a big chunk also, not a measly little thing like we have come to expect. And it was battered perfectly. The batter itself was delicious, not too heavy and greasy, and unlike some of my fish experiences, there was a proper proportion of batter to fish. There was enough batter to make the fish interesting, however there was not too much, which allowed the fish, in this case a delicious piece of flake, to shine. I only have two gripes with this epitomy of seafood. The first is that I do not live in the vicinity of the shop, and will not likely visit again, and secondly, that the portion sizes were actually decent, and that I was unable to finish the meal on my already half-full stomach. I hope that I never forget my experiences at this haven of good food, and that all other fish and chip shops around the world lift their standards to the standard of D'Lish Fish, which would surely male the world a far...

Sorry to say its not about getting you to give me a free feed. Its about getting what I paid for. I have never put a bad review on google. i try to promote small business. However, yesterday, i was so disappointed I felt the need to let people know.
Hi All, A sad note about my favourite fish and chip shop in Melbourne, I would have recommended this place to over 100 people. however, it must have changed hands. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME, close to the worst chips I have ever had, over cooked, no salt, oily so not cooked in hot enough oil, oil tasted like it was a month old. $7.00 of chips if I got two potatoes in total, I would be surprised. I could see the bottom of the box. nearly went back and asked for the rest of my order. they have size on the wall, but if you put 30 chips in a large box, it's still 30 chips. I think mc donalds is cheaper, better quality and more for your money. I hate mc donalds. GIVE THIS PLACE A MISS UNLESS YOU LIKE OVER COOKED GREESY CHIPS WITH NO SALT. If you look at other photos on this page, photos in brown boxes is what use to be served at this place (when it was amazing VOTED best fish and chip shop in Victoria) NO MORE, good luck with your business if this your best maybe get Gordon ramsey to come save you. you will be broke inside a year. By the way folks the potatoe cake was good size, thick, well cooked but still bad oil and little salt. who knows maybe salt is expensive. I won't be back last two times I got ripped off. no...
Read moreHave been in D'lish Fish several times as we are based in Port Melbourne. Went there for dinner today. As the queue was long, decided to order online. When placing the order there was a pop up message saying I'd be receiving an sms when my order is ready. There was no place where the phone number was suppossed to be entered. After placing the order and making the payment, we sat at the table and like 5 minutes later I went to the order pick up to ask about our order. The lady at the counter said I would receive an sms, but I was surprised because I never entered my phone number and I said that. She again said that I would receive an sms and I repeated myself saying I never entered my phone number. She said that this is the way it works, I said ok and went back to the table. Apparantly, I was rude to the girl at the counter and made her cry, because another staff member came up to my partner and asked him to come outside with him. So during the conversation outside the gentleman said to my partner that I made the girl cry at the order pick up counter. To be honest, I am just shocked by not only the statement, but the fact that my partner was asked to come outside to talk about what I apparently had said/done to one of the staff members. I can't really understand what exactly...
