I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Clare Castle in Melbourne, and I must say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. This restaurant truly knows how to impress, offering a perfect blend of exquisite food, exceptional service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

The steaks were cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, while the Sunday roast was simply divine, bursting with rich, comforting flavors. The wine selection is extensive, and the chef's recommendations were spot on, pairing beautifully with our meals.

The menu is diverse, and everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. The calamari was tender and delicious, the oysters fresh and briny, the pasta was perfectly al dente, and the desserts were a delightful way to end the meal. Great pub. Delicious food. The chicken parmesan gnocchi was velvet in a bowl, yum. Seafood pasta very nice. Well cooked steaks. Mushroom sauce very good. Decent portion sizes. Good service. Reasonable pricing, only marginally more than other pubs in the area, but serving superior quality food to warrant this. Ate as a group of 8. Loved being sat at a large round table, brilliant for conversation. We were near the kitchen. Which was so lovely to watch all the food coming out and all the great hustle and bustle associated. Only one negative to our evening = very smokey atmosphere whilst trying to enjoy dessert. The kitchen staff should probably waited until after the dining guests have left before pouring hot water over all the grills and filling up the dining room with steam & smoke... Tad off putting eating dessert in a smokey room, when the rat of the night this wasn't the case. Could tell the waitress realised it wasn't an ideal situation and has hopefully informed kitchen that it's not the best idea to do at that time. Do understand the kitchen staff probably just wanted to get home after a successful busy Friday night shift of serving lovely food to us all and am sorry to cast any negativity towards the kitchen as they did a tremendous job, just one tiny thing we felt wasn't appropriate and could be improved upon. Not a deal breaker as you can see by my star rating. Brilliant pub....

To celebrate a 30 year reunion, several colleagues and myself recently visited the Clare Castle Hotel in Port Melbourne and I must say "The Clare" exceeded all expectations. The new owners Dave & Greg have done a first class job with the renovation with the Wine Lounge in particular exuding class from floor to ceiling. The menu includes classy small plates, honest pub grub and a well considered selection of mains with seafood being prominent, but that's not say the carnivores aren't catered for. A couple of my colleagues ordered steak and were delighted with their choice. I had (a blackboard special), the blackened salmon which was better than the blackened red fish I would regularly order during a stint working in Louisiana. And let's not forget the staff. Our lunch turned into a "long lunch" and covered a shift change of the hotel staff. They were both pleasant and professional throughout.

A great day, a great lunch & a great pub. The Clare will be my go-to pub from now on.
