Zest Café — Restaurant in Melbourne

We booked for a group for breakfast at Zest. Arrived, no table reserved for us. I am not quite sure why the staff took our orders, because the food that was produced in the kitchen seemed pretty random. Meals would brought out and offered to whoever claimed it - if nobody claimed the meal it was offered as a free meal because it had been cooked in error. I think I claimed another person's meal - it was what I ordered, but it was the only one of that meal to appear at our table. I had long since finished my breakfast before the other people at our table received theirs (including another serve of what I had ordered, which was duly claimed as a freeby by someone else at our table).

My meal was quite acceptable - all the advertised things were included, unlike some of the other meals which arrived without bacon!

I cannot comment on the coffee. The service was random that I chose to skip coffe and find a coffee at another nearby cafe.

If nothing else, it is less expensive than flying to England to experience...

One has to wonder if the reviews are real or not. We live in the area and tried it for the first time today. Coffe is quite good, but that’s about it for the good news. The view is nice but it’s mainly of Beach Road, busy and noisy. The place was empty, very cold and quite dirty (9ish in the morning). Menu was uninspired and average (but this is subjective). We wanted so much for this place to be good and have another lovely alternative in the neighbourhood, sadly it turned out mediocre at best. I normally would just not waste time reviewing places I didn’t like, but I can’t figure out how this place is currently rated more than 4 stars with such praising reviews....

went here with my best mate liam and were starving hungry for food as we went to a concert the night before. we are from bendigo and don’t know the area well, we ordered coffees and they were one of the best cappuccinos i’ve ever had. we ordered the “millionaire burger” and it was presented really nicely and was so juicy. the service was great as we were served by a really nice guy and he could make great coffees!! definitely my go to cafe when i move to...
