Came here with my parents for Christmas lunch and we definitely won’t be returning. At $100 per person we were definitely paying for the quantity because there was no quality or love in the food.
When we arrived at the scheduled time they were very disorganised and we had to wait around until they prepared the area. For a Christmas lunch the tables were way to small to fit both our plates, our drinks and the food presented. And the chairs were too high and uncomfortable.
When the food arrived it was very unappealing. The entrees were way too big in size and lacked taste. For main the turkey was a joke, even though it tasted nice you could barely find it with the amount of stuffing. In fact there was four times more stuffing than turkey. The potatoes were that dry it was as if they had been put back in the oven 10 times, they had no taste and were underwhelming. The vegetables were the only items that tasted ok but were still cold when brought out.
I noticed that the other tables around us were also leaving the bulk of their food.
We made the conscious decision to leave without staying for dessert because it was that bad.
They say you learn from your mistakes, well this is definitely one expensive mistake that won’t...
Read moreI took my family to The Exchange Hotel for my birthday as I had been given a voucher at a work function. I booked a table via their web site but when we arrived we were told the booking had been made for the lounge and not the restaurant. This was a mistake with the booking engine because I followed thy link to make a restaurant booking and, in fact, there wasn't even thy option to book the lounge. Fortunately, there was a table available and they set it for us. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with super comfortable chairs but is spoiled by the fact there is no separation from the bar next door and even at 08:00pm on a Saturday night, there was a loud and rowdy group in the pub, which spoiled the atmosphere in the restaurant. All four of us ordered steaks and all of us complained the steaks were over-seasoned and too salty. Even I found mine too salty and I usually add salt to everything I eat! At the end of the meal, we presented the voucher and were told it was invalid and we were asked if we had already used it elsewhere (we hadn't). Eventually the manager told us she trusted us and processed it. We had really been looking forward to the meal there but overall we were very...
Read moreTable of 4 booked for outside on the website, but the hotel does not take booking outside but never the less we got an outside table. You have to order at the bar which is fine but you don't get a breakdown of the bill.
We ordered 2 entrees the bruschetta and the arancini balls, and 4 mains. Bruschetta was really bad, under seasoned, just cherry tomatoes cut in half with some basil on cold bread, so when you picked up the Bruschetta all off the tomatoes just fell off the soggy bread. Tomatoes and red onion, herbs should be diced fine, and a nice sour dough bread toasted with a little bit of garlic for flavour, it should look something special and beautiful and that a chef has taken a lot of time and pride to do.
The Arancini ball okay but not the best, and very small. Mushroom and Truffle, you need truffle oil? Rice was a little overcooked, Arancini should be the size of a golf ball not a marble. The Aoli was nice
The mains were very nice 2 x Wagu burgers, the actual beef patty was very under-seasoned would prefer to have a local beef housemade patty but still very nice. Fish and chips very nice but the soggy salad drowned and dressing let it down, Beetroot salad was the the...
