Dao Vien 2 Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

I popped in today for a quick bite with my wife, and was severely disappointed by both the quality of food and service. Asked for a dish that a nearby table was having, a salted fish fried rice, and was served some kind of fried chicken and tomato rice combination.

I spoke to a second waitress (not the one who took the order) about the error in taking the order, but finally decided to keep it as I was in a rush. However, one bite of the dish tasted so bitter and burnt, so we sent it back.

The second waitress apologised for that and clarified the order I actually wanted. She then came back a short while later, saying that they were frying up the dish, but had run out of salted fish. Would that be ok? I said go ahead.

Then the old lady from the kitchen brought back the exact same dish that I'd just sent back! She tossed the dish down, and stated categorically that she would not be redoing it as that is what I ordered. She then walked off. Not one apology for the burnt food!! Unbelievable.

We ended up leaving the restaurant and refusing to pay for the rubbish that was served. It wasn't the second waitress's fault, and I could see that she was plainly embarrassed by the treatment of customers.

Honestly, there are better dining options in Springvale. My wife and I won't be coming back...

Today, for dinner, tried Dao Vien 2 restaurant, in Springvale. The service was alright. Server sort of lacked the ability to respond to customer orders, but was still able to understand what dish we wanted. The restaurant, itself, doesn't seem to stand out, as expected. The tables looked a bit rustic. However, food was good. I tried a bit of the fried Noodles, and beef. Noodles were tasty, crunchy. Not too soft from the sauce. The sauce is sweet. Balances with the beef and vegetable flavours. The sauce reminded me of a restaurant I had eaten before, which is a good thing, because it's timeless. The beef was tender, and well-seasoned. I had the Shaking Beef and Rice. Despite the rice being alright, nothing special, the beef was marinated well, the sauce is delicious. Sweet and a bit of soy. I even tried the tea, and it tasted good. Definitely taste a bit of the tea, but it makes you wanna drink more. Overall, it's relatively a good...

Worst service I've had in my entire life. No greeting whatsoever, middle age viet lady who looks like she's had bad plastic surgery on her face has the worst customer service. We had to walk over to ask if we could order our food after sitting there for a while. Gave her the number of our order, and she tells us to read it out to her. Even when we did that, she looked at us like she had no idea what we said.. And then proceeded to tell us everything else we wanted wasn't available. Ridiculous prices that have been changed and written over with a pen. Can't even fix up their menus properly. We ended up walking out due to the atrocious service, and attitude by the viet/Chinese lady. Learn some manners if you want customers! I'd advise to go elsewhere even if it's central Springvale where you'd get much better service than this hole in...
