I went to dine with my family in desi dhaba. We were 6 adults and two children’s. We were so excited to see deshi dhaba in Craigieburn. But it left us with big disappointment. The waitress came to take order after 15 mins of us being there. Though it was not busy, after the order was placed I had to ask wether the papadum is free or we have to order because we never got one.So finally after asking the waitress complimentary raw (not fried properly) papadum was served to us after being there 20 mins. We ordered chicken vindalo for main course the waitress brought goat vindalo. As soon as it was served I asked the server it looks like goat. She confirmed and was so sure and said it’s chicken vindalo. While I was about to eat we found out it was goat. And we don’t eat goats at all. After telling about the goat to staff, staff never apologized about serving wrong order. Just took the goat vindalo and brought chicken vinadolo after our naan was over. We order extra plain naan second round for chicken vinadolo but we were served hard “butter naan” None of the staff came to ask if everything is ok. After the food one of the staff came to clear the table she stayed in one corner of the table and asked us to pass all the plates to her. Was literally shocked of very poor customer services and carelessness. We do mistakes as a human being but The thing that surprised and shocked me was No apologies for all the bad services and carelessness. Probably never going back again. Our first and last visit to desi dhaba...
Read moreAPPALLING....As an Indian, I was highly embarrassed today with my experience at Desi Dhaba. I attended the venue with my family and with a couple of close friends(Australians).
We ordered our dishes of which a couple of them were mild and a couple were medium in relation to the spice levels.
When the food came out, those dishes that were meant to be mild were actually spicier than the medium dishes.
I spoke with the Manager at the time advising her that this was not mild. Next thing that happened. I could not believe what came out of her mouth. Whilst looking at my Australian friends, she turned to me and said, "we cannot accommodate TO THEIR kind of mild". Our friends were highly offended as they were no strangers to Indian cuisine. I really could not believe what I was hearing.
We approached the Manager at the end of our visit, advising her that her comments were uncalled for. Instead of a simple apology, she turned around claiming that she didn't say anything wrong.
This has definitely put a dampener on the reputation of Desi Dhaba, especially given that this particular Manager commented, stating that they cater the spice levels according to their own people. Talk about DISCRIMINATION.
At this point, we just paid and left, as our concerns were falling on deaf ears.
I would not want this subjected on anyone so I am putting a warning out there for all.
VERY DISAPPOINTING AND UNCALLED FOR
How can a place have a racist Manager as...
Read moreIt's been the third time in a row (and probably the last one now) that I have had a disappointing experience with Desi Dhaba Craigieburn. Sorry guys but I have to punch in a single star on this one. I placed the order well in advance over the phone for punjabi chicken curry and made a really clear request for it not to be spicy (only because last time I ordered this item, it literally burned my tongue). After 15 or so minutes, when I turned up to collect the order, I was told that the order wasn't yet ready and I needed to wait. Waited for another 10 or so minutes only to find out that my order wasn't even entered into the system so never reached the kitchen. At this point, I was also informed that the chilli/spice level can't be adjusted so I needed to order something else. Well, I ended up giving up on the order altogether. I understand the staff who attended to my phone call was probably new and made a mistake which is ok. I would suggest training up the staff to be upfront about what requests can or can't be fulfilled. Also, if you can add a bit of flexibility in terms of spice level in your items that would cater for wide range of your customers' tastes and preferences. Hope this helps. Thanks to the lady who genuinely apologised for the inconvenience caused. First ever genuine apology I got from Desi Dhaba Craigieburn despite repeated not-so-good...
