Dhaba 517 — Restaurant in Melbourne

UPDATE - I am delighted to say that Dhaba 517 is open for business again following several months of inactivity (apparently due to renovations). Not sure what other changes have occurred, but the staff appear to be different and, most importantly, the regular takeaway we ordered on Friday evening was better than ever! The following previously posted review still applies ......... After many years as takeaway customers of a long established Indian restaurant in the Elsternwick/South Caulfield area that had unfortunately become somewhat complacent of late (declining meal quality, diminishing portion sizes, elevated pricing and indifferent customer service), a number of Glen Huntly Road traders urged us to give Dhaba 517 a try. We finally took their advice back on New Years Eve and are so glad we did. Authentic, delicious, reasonably-priced cuisine; generous servings; late opening hours and lovely operators. My friend and I visited Dhaba today based on Google reviews and it did not disappoint! We ordered the Family Pack with onion bhaji starter, chicken tikka, two bowls of rice, and our choice of curries - Indian butter chicken and vegetable korma. It also came with 2 serves of naan (very generous size), 3 papadums and a can of soft drink. We also added 2 mango lassies and Amritsari fish. It was a lot of food for 2 people so we had lots of left overs to take home. The service was excellent, very friendly and helpful, and our server even followed us to return a pair of glasses we left behind. Indian Restaurant BAHAHAHAAAAAA. That’s an absolute joke! this is by far the worst take out food we have ever ordered. I have honestly eaten better Indian food from a jar you buy at coles and that certainly didn’t cost me $50. Honestly, It barely passed as edible it actually tasted off and not only was it inedible, I think the heath department should pay you a visit as my partner and I have just discovered hair in 2dishes.

Who ever is “running” this establishment, you should be ashamed of your self. Maybe instead of spending all your time on faking 5star reviews after receiving a negative one, you should focus on cleaning up your kitchen and replacing your staff. If you can’t do this...
