East of Everything — Restaurant in Melbourne

Been going there for ten years, but after the service I received tonight, never again.....

EDIT: Given that I had been waiting for several minutes trying to pay for those two $18 beers, it should have been pretty clear that I was not trying to steal anything.

I came upstairs to find ten people queued up with a single staff member taking meal orders and serving drinks. I thought I'd do them a favour by grabbing the cans myself, as I had done dozens of times in the past - I'd been told by staff before that if the door is unlocked, then they don't mind. When I finally got to the front of the queue, I was met with hostility.

The fact that I showed up at the register upstairs should have made it obvious that I was acting in good faith. Hostility gets you one-star reviews. That's why you don't do it.

P.S. Even after that, I had the courtesy not to detail the incident, so as not to advertise to the entire internet that you keep the room with the craft beer fridge unlocked and unstaffed.

My favourite beer and burger joint in Camberwell! Big shout out to the chef for the amazing food! I enjoyed the food so much, especially the Cajun Chicken and the double patty cheeseburger are so tender and juicy I had no issues eating these right after having my wisdom tooth taken out that afternoon! Impressive list of tap beer that changes regularly. If you cannot decide what to get, just go for the tasting option! A pretty embarrassing performance from a business who probably think they’ve got some monopoly on the Camberwell drinking scene.

The lack of care was phenomenal and the service was incredibly rude. Despite it being boiling hot, the manager refused to turn on air conditioning and fans - probably to save coin or drive patrons’ hydration into the ground.

Every time we went to order food/beverages we were met with a grouchy response. If you’re going to run a pub/bar shouldn’t you be wanting to vending drinks? Was a strange way to conduct a business.

In summary, this place just isn’t up...
