Dined in this evening and had an unpleasant welcome at the cafe. I had make a booking and yet no table was reserved. The staff member asked for my name and looked stunned that I arrived. We had to get our own menus and it took about 10 minutes before we were served water. I noticed our cups were smaller compared to those provided to the other tables.

We ordered the beef steak (Topsilog) and it was terrible. The meat was hard and so off, it must have been there for ages!!!

The fish balls for entree were also deeply fried and nearly burnt, they were so tiny it didn’t even look like fish balls and worth the $8 price.

Then came the worst knock out experience. We had ordered Halo Halo, and had to remind the waitress about this. Our dirty plates were not even cleared from the table, while we were waiting for dessert.

A couple of minutes later, this waitress brought out the Halo Halo but then had to ask the customers sitting in the 2 tables located behind us if they had ordered. With each table saying no that order, the waitress went back and forth the kitchen.

I felt disgusted and didn’t even feel like eating the Halo Halo as she had placed the Halo Halo on the table before us and kept bringing it back to the kitchen.

No apologies but another question to us, whether we had ordered the Halo Halo, which we had reminded her before. Also the Halo Halo was just a huge chunk of ice. We had to crush it ourselves. Chef or whoever prepared it, didn’t care to take the time to serve crushed ice.

Very poor customer service, understaffed and horrible chef. Will NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN!!!!

The quality of food and price is TERRIBLE, and so is the HORRIBLE service of the...

Firstly, we thought it would be a fantastic experience as they had a Mother’s Day special, however, turned out a big disappointment. We arrived at the table with no menus (had to get our own). We sat waiting to order then realised we had to order ourselves at the cashier (we were not told this even the owner was just in front of us 🙄). We ordered 3 main dishes, 1 ube latte and taho. The latte served after 5mins w/c is good. However the 2 main dishes arrived after 30mins. Waited another 15mins for the taho and the longgabao which we expected delicious as it’s their signature, not even that great. All dishes underwhelming and overpriced. The baos had 3 pieces of cucumber and 1/4 of longanisa with super spicy sauce that killed any flavour of the dish. Nothing special with all the dishes. Super overpriced with only 3 small baos. The portion of longsilog is tiny with the salad without dressing 🙄. The pork belly (mother’s day special menu) had only 6tiny pieces of pork which is not belly again with salad with no dressing. The price doesn’t suit with what we had and the taste doesn’t suit with what others saying (reviews). The taho taste yucky! Only the ube latte is quite okay. The rest are rubbish! So to those who has a plan to eat in this restaurant, better think again. Purely disappointed with the service and the food. The owner is busy taking a photo rather than asking his customers about their experience 🙄 so rude! Don’t go there if you don’t want to be disappointed. The vibe is a bit fine but the food is like in market. Sorry but it’s my own disappointment experience. At least we tried the one they keep saying “good cafe, taste good the food, etc with the...

Cafe Kusina in Camberwell is a delightful gem, bringing the vibrant flavors of Filipino cuisine to the heart of the neighborhood. From the moment you step in, the cozy ambiance and friendly staff make you feel right at home. When feeling a bit blue about missing the Philippines, Cafe Kusina never fails to lift my spirits.

My absolute favorites include the savory Daingsilog, the rich and flavorful Kare Kare, the delightful Jolly Spaghettini Chicken, and the mouthwatering Halo-Halo. I'm always impressed by the authenticity of their flavors, and each dish truly reflects the passion the chefs put into their craft. The attention to detail and the unique combination of traditional and modern elements make the dining experience at Cafe Kusina truly special.

The service is exceptional, with the staff always ready to provide recommendations and ensure a memorable dining experience. What sets Cafe Kusina apart is not just the food but the warm hospitality that accompanies it. The owners and staff go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and satisfied.

As a regular customer, I also appreciate that Cafe Kusina offers catering services. Whether for a personal indulgence or a special event, their commitment to quality and authenticity shines through. Whether you're a fan of Filipino cuisine or a curious foodie looking to explore new flavors, Cafe Kusina is a must-visit. It's a culinary journey that captures the essence of Filipino culture right in the heart of Camberwell, and with a menu featuring my personal favorites, this place is highly recommended for a comforting taste of home...

Note this review is only applicable to two Ubereats orders we had. The first deserved a 4+ star rating, the later one unfortunately fell so much shorter at 3 stars at most. In the first order, we had the chicken inasal with rice (flavour was nice, chicken was on the over grilled tough side), still enjoyable. Their spaghetti and chicken combo (I was told) was also nice. The chicken adobo rice (came free with the order) was delicious. In the second order, wow this one we really had a lot of problems. Their chicken adobo was good (the same as last time), again this was free with the order. Their tocino spamsilog was quite good, their rice can be a bit better. Both still fairly enjoyable. Their lechon kawali, well that one was quite expensive and HARD like rubber (barely edible at all). I have never eaten a worse tough cripsy pork like this one. It was either days old, or just downright wrongly cooked. From the texture, it definitely tasted like the earlier, to be honest. Their ube pandesal, well that was another one that had a vibe of an old bread (because whilst some bits that were not hard to chew were nicely flavoured), the rest was very hard to eat. I had a few of my Filipino colleagues verify that the lechon kawali was indeed not supposed to be that way. We may or may not give it another go on Ubereats as we truly love Filipino food.

If you're a food enthusiast on the lookout for a unique dining experience, look no further than Cafe Kusina. Nestled in the heart of the Camberwell, this charming cafe and restaurant is a true gem that deserves all the praise it receives. From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance that sets the perfect mood for an unforgettable meal. The decor is tasteful and stylish, creating a cozy yet modern atmosphere that will make you feel right at home. But let's get to the star of the show—the food! Cafe Kusina boasts a menu that showcases an exquisite blend of flavors, ranging from traditional local dishes to international delights. Each dish is a work of art, meticulously crafted with attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Give a try on their Filipino cuisine(s) - Milkfish ( Daingsilog ) - Beef ( Tapsilog ) Sure, you can also try the usual brunch meal - Avo in toasty The service at Cafe Kusina is nothing short of exceptional. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure your satisfaction. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to make recommendations make the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Have you had Asin Tibuok? It’s one of the rarest salts in the world — and we had it shaved over Halo-Halo at here! This Filipino restaurant is a must-visit, serving up comfort food that hits hard on nostalgia and flavour. 🍗 Happy Chicken ($25) — super crispy, juicy, and served with sweet-style Filipino spaghetti. Closest thing to Jollibee we’ve had in Melbourne! 🐖 Crispy Pata ($38) — this pork hock is MASSIVE. Bring friends. 🐟 Pinaputok na Bangus ($25) — fried milkfish with salsa 🍔 Longanisa Burger — patty made with Filipino pork sausage 🌶️ Dynamite ($8) — deep-fried chilli spring rolls with melty cheese inside 🍢 Pinoy BBQ Skewer ($10) — smoky, sweet, tender 🧆 Kikiam ($10) — fish wrapped in bean curd 🐠 Fish Ball ($8) — classic Filipino street snack 🍮 Taho ($10) — tofu pudding with sugar syrup + boba 🍧 Halo-Halo ($16) — Filipino shaved ice with rare asin tibuok salt 🌾 Puto Bumbong ($10) — steamed purple rice cakes like a chewy mochi 🍫 Dubai Chocolate Cake ✨ don’t leave without trying that Halo-Halo with a sprinkle of Dinosaur Egg salt. It’s a wild twist you didn’t know you needed.
