Bar None — Restaurant in Melbourne

The manager was incredibly rude, she made us almost ask if she wanted us to leave. We rocked up, it’s empty minus two people. We said there would be a group, that we called ahead and she said “well I wasn’t told that” a few times. I asked if it was ok that we wanted to stay for a quick drink. She said again she wasn’t informed and nothing was set up. I said that was fine we just wanted to get a drink. She was just so blatantly irritated and rude to all of us.

Mind you, it was after a wedding and we thought considering the bar was empty they’d like the customers. Not only was she incredibly rude, which everyone commented on when we grabbed a table but she obviously rolled her eyes at another girl who was sitting down. I almost just told everyone we should go.

The drinks were amazing, the bar and atmosphere was awesome.

That manager was incredibly rude, then we were standing talking and she said it’s table service. So we’re all sitting down and she passive aggressively says “I’m waiting for you all to sit down”. Needless to say of the group of twenty none of us will be coming back.

We weren’t expecting a rush, we understood it wasn’t heavily staffed there was absolutely no need to be so rude and passive aggressive.

Over a week later I’ve decided to write a review because we all joke about how much the manager hated us when we wanted to have a few drinks.

I had the black forest cocktail and it was sickly sweet. The description said "tastes like a black forest cake" and it didn't taste a thing like a black forest cake (one of my favourite cakes). When I mentioned it to the guy who made it, he was extremely rude, and he got really upset and said that it was award winning and no one had ever complained about it before and was almost giving me death stares because I mentioned it didn't taste like a blackforest cake, so I thought I would order a Tolberone as I love them as cocktails. When it arrived I tasted it and it was one of the most disgusting cocktails ever. Even my friend tried it and she even thought it was disgusting. Also both times my cocktails came the waitress spilt them. She apologised but she didn't even get me anything to clean them up with. The only highlight is that it's a pretty funky place with regards to atmosphere. Both my friends' cocktails were really nice as I tried them, but I wouldn't have minded so much if the guy wasn't so...

The drinks were nice and the place reasonably cosy, however if you're in a couple I'd advise going elsewhere as the waiter was incredibly rude and unprofessional because apparently I wasn't allowed to lean on or peck my date (perhaps a sign at the front that lets people know affection is god forbidden here would be appropriate). We weren't around anyone else or being unreasonable and therefore I would have at least appreciated a comment less condescending than 'come on guys, seriously? you're in public, can you not?' as he was walking by. Sorry if we made you uncomfortable, its never my intention to, but even after we refrained there were still long stares straight at us for the rest of our time there. Out of line.
