Escargot Bakery has completely blown me away! This is hands down the best French bakery experience I've had in Melbourne.
The croissant was perfection - buttery, flaky layers that practically melted in my mouth, the spinach roll was incredible with beautifully seasoned fresh spinach wrapped in their signature pastry, the brioche bun was soft and pillowy with that distinctive French sweetness, and their bread selection is top-tier with perfect crust and complex flavors.
The coffee was expertly brewed and the perfect complement to their pastries. What really sets Escargot apart is their dedication to quality - they're closed a few days each week to focus on preparation and perfecting their craft, and it absolutely shows.
You can feel the passion and authentic French expertise in everything they create, and the owners Leo and Etienne are clearly masters of their craft. The service is lovely too - warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. This isn't just a bakery, it's a true artisan experience that brings authentic French baking culture to Brighton.

Read moreParis has come to Melbourne. The pastries are lighter than a feather and I feel as though they were transported from Rue Cler (a place etched on the memories of anyone who has eaten there). The croissant I had was masterful and a reflection of the skill that went into creating countless layers of the thinnest pastry, which gave way to an artful blend of crunch and a multitude of melting flavours. The hot chocolate is on point and I love that they don't charge you extra for specialty milks - a bug bear of mine about all other cafes I visit. Leo and Etienne's carefully curated selection of pastries is perfect to ensure you're not overwhelmed by choice but rather spoiled with sophisticated flavours and textures. Great value for money. I suspect big things are in store...
