review no. 88 of 2024 (12/8/24) Falco Bakery Rockwell Pie $11 My good mate who owns Nice Pickles in Adelaide SA, recommended Falco Bakery. The Rockwell pie is Falco Bakeries signature dish. It's a rework of their double smash party burger when they used to run Rockell & Sons diner in a pie ! The presentation of the pie looked really good. It had a nice dark golden look to it which carried on through the sides and base. The pastry was light, fluffy and had a nice flakiness to it with a slight crunch. The lid and sides looked to be baked well, the base may have needed a touch more but it wasn't far off. The pie came out with its own sauce, it had a nice tangy zing to it. Moving on to the filling the mince tasted delicious, it definitely was seasoned so you'd get that classic burger taste, the mince wasn't grisly or too fatty/greasy. Add the cheese and some of the sauce it was a decent tasting burger pie. All the flavours worked well with each other, the sauce, the mince and the cheese wrapped in a delicious pastry. The meat to gravy ratio was pretty good along with the consistency. The pie would have held up together and the stability looked good. The serving temp was bang on. Probably one of the better "gourmet" type of burger pies i've had from an artisan type of bakery. The coffee was pretty good too. The bakery has dining space inside the store and outdoor seating and tables at the front of the store. Thanks for having me in Jack. They also stock my friends pickles 🥒 So while you're there grab a jar or jump on the Facebook page to order some online. If you're in Adelaide Nice Pickles is located at 20 W Thebarton Rd, Thebarton SA 5031. The jerk beans are fantastic. 288 Smith St, Collingwood VIC 3066 #FalcoBakery #NicePickles #Collingwood #MeatPie #MeatPieAppreciationGroup For more Meat Pie reviews, join my group on Facebook the Meat Pie Appreciation Group

Overall rating: 4/5 If you could smell the aroma surrounding this busy block - that buttery sweet and smokey goodness just warms your soul! Not surprised for the queue outside the store. They bake and cook their goods fresh to go for the day until sold out. Their display window is a huge bait, tempting me to order all their glistening pastries, miso cookies and chicken toasties. Too bad there wasn’t any pastrami kraut & cheese croissant that we were looking forward to. Got lucky, grabbing the last Rockwell pie for the day, and boy was it worth it. The flaky spectrum falls in the extreme, as their golden puffed pie hats was just so full of texture, even tasty on its own. Each element of the pie was made to perfection - the crunchy integrity of the crust, the flaky hat, the smoky hot mince beef. Personally, I think the flavour tasted beyond your classic double smash patty burger. We ordered the special burger sauce on the side, but it wasn’t needed at all - it made the overall flavour too salty. While my sister loved the flavour of the pie, I still found it a bit too salty alone. Concept and complexity of the pie was worth it all, but not sure if worth $9! Would love to return here to try their beautifully smelling sourdoughs and pastries! Taste: 4.25 Value: 4 Ambience: 4.5 Service: 4

We drove all the way here because our good mates recommended it to us. I believe they are regulars. Where do we start, we came in expected to be greeted etc. but what I got from the staff (girl that took our order) vibe is that we are not welcome. Wanted to order few things, when came to our 2nd pastry of choice the girl already punch in everything in the system and point to us to pay for it. I was like, I’m still ordering other pastries. I got the vibe that she doesn’t want to sell to us. (What did we do to make your morning so miserable?) 🤷🏽‍♂️ There were no customers when we came in, but while we were ordering there were 2 regulars that came in, she greeted etc. we felt like she treated us others better than us. this is a selective service place, so I would say if you are coming here for the first time, stay away and there are plenty of other places that do the same things or more delicious food. This put me off, wanted to order some more bread and coffee. Should have just cancelled my order and walk away. Food wise, they are alright. Service wise, could do better… we are trying to help as well in this time, but if you do not want to provide that hospitality, maybe should ask yourself are you even in the right industry?
