I took one look at the menu online and had to come here. We’d just returned from Philadelphia where we’d tried a few Philly Cheese Steaks, so we were keen to compare. Today, we started off with a pot of English Breakfast and a hot chocolate. As usual, rarely do people make a hot chocolate actually hot 🔥 and this was no different. Take away coffees available. I ordered the Shakshuka which was a good portion size and beautifully presented. Taste was gently spicy without detracting from the capsicum and pumpkin. Plenty of toasted pita on the side to mop up the sauce. My friend had the Philly Cheese Steak which he ordered a particular way, straying from the menu. Thank you for the patience of the waitress as he explained how he wanted his brunch. Portion size was excellent and in fact, could’ve taken home half for dinner. Steak was tender and juicy. In USA they have softer rolls and melt the cheese on the grill with the chopped sirloin. This was different but still very enjoyable. As a Philly boy, he was most impressed. My daughter had the Turkish Breakfast which was packed full of eggs, green olives, halloumi, sujuk, hummus, grilled tomato and pita bread. The portion size was generous and the blend of the different elements brought out a clean taste to the palette of fresh and a well thought out combination. Field Black caters well for vegetarians, vegans, gluten free and dairy options. Congratulations on providing a flexible food service. There is indoor and outdoor dining, as well as a covered seating area heading out towards the rear of the building. Seating is at usual tables but also a high bench table that is flooded with light and a stunning floral display (see photos). Parking out the front has time limits to beware of. Disability friendly. Kids welcome. Only downside was that the acoustics aren’t great, so at times challenging to have a conversation. Big shout out to staff who where extremely helpful, fast and efficient. Although the meal took a long time to come out (they were down one chef - thank you Covid), the staff kept us in the loop and checked in with us regularly. Worth a...
Read moreThis place gave me mixed emotions today. I wanted to love it, I really did. The staff were kind, the service was prompt & presentation of food was spectacular. However - I’ve never ordered avocado on toast and been so confused by the pallet of ingredients in my mouth. All the ingredients blended into a strange bland combination of mush. There was nothing to enhance any flavour, it really needed some acidity to cut through what I thought looked like a beautiful dish. When I asked for lemon to fix what I was eating, they did not have any ? I think that’s the first time I’ve ever been served avocado on toast without lemon or the option to have it. It seems so minor but felt like a big oversight. There was just no seasoning to balance flavours. The drizzle around the toast could have used some as acidity well. Either with capers and or lemons. I’m passing on this feedback in hopes of visiting again one day / feel this needs attention as everything else on the plate made sense - the seeds were a...
Read moreAwesome little cafe which is suitable for families with little children. I came in to meet my friend and I was delighted to find the little corner for children to play at, with some books and toys. Parents will usually sit at the end of the cafe and their toddlers and babies have space to play and make some noise and not disturb the customers who are seated in front. Food is always amazingly fresh and delicious. I had a avocado smash on toast and they were able to cook my egg fully. The tomatoes on it was fresh and juicy. We also ordered the children’s pancakes. Pancake was fluffy and there was a lot of strawberries served with it. The green smoothie was fresh and didn’t taste “green” at all. Staff was very attentive and very polite. We were also able to split our bills, winning! I will definitely come back to Field...
