2.0 Twosheds visited Glicks for a smoked salmon, cream cheese and caper bagel. It is always very busy here so we had to wait quite a while. The lady who made my bagel was very friendly but it had an excess of cream cheese which overpowered the smoked salmon. Even though these are meant to be Melbourne’s best bagels, I have to say I’ve had better elsewhere. The shop as a whole doesn’t look very clean either. To boot, a man standing next to me pushed in front of me and asked the lady making my bagel “not to hold back on the arsenic” in the bagel. The whole experience reminded us why we don’t often go here. 2.0

This 1 star is purely on the basis of the bagel filling which was so disappointing! I got two bagels - salmon and cream cheese and a melted cheese - the fillings were so thin as to barely be able to taste it and the melted cheese bagel was crushed in a sandwich press rather than a grill so you’re left with a bagel frisbee slightly glued together with cheap cheese. I love bagels and haven’t been to Glicks in a while and based on today’s experience, I won’t be going back - 20 years ago, Glicks was the only decent place to get a bagel but that’s not the case anymore!

Poppy and Seed shop was closed the day I was craving a bagel badly (they the balaclava bagel ogs)..Went to Glicks Bagels as an alternative to curb the craving. Made my own bagel and everything (onion with shmear and tomatoes and onions) and wow did the bagel come up BLAND. No flavor, no savory taste, no salt, no bagel eating bliss. Bagels need more salt and seasoning in them and cream cheese needs a taste lift (up the herbs and spring onions!). Wanted to like this place but it left a hole in my stomach. Not NYC bagels like I know them!!

I just discovered Glicks as my friend brought over Bagels today which were incredible, extremely flavourful, fresh and clearly made with care and precision.

Side note but to the lady in the reviews below who gave Glicks a bad review based on serving customers without a mask on, I would suggest to that lady to pay attention to the law as businesses are not allowed to discriminate based on mask exemptions and that lady should not assume someone's health condition based on appearance. There needs to be more awareness about this and I'm upset to see that someone would use this as a reason to give a wonderful family business a much undeserved bad review. I will be visiting your outlets soon Glicks thankyou for your fabulous skill...

This place is horrifying in terms of Health & Safety standards. Pay employees $16 cash, the floors never get washed (the grease is that thick employees slip over constantly), blood on cutlery without washing, windows left open overnight and pigeons fly in & sit on the pot that has the dipping chocolate; which they just reheat and reuse. No gloves, no washing hands, head chef screams at staff upstairs in the kitchen, they don’t wash utensils before reusing. I witnessed all this for 2 days before never returning, I never even went back to collect my pay for those 2 days - I couldn’t get out...
