Golden Bell Kitchen — Restaurant in Melbourne

We came here for the First time. Why we chose this restaurant? Because we love Chinese foods. And their menu have some items that I want to try here! While waiting for our food, I was feeling quite excited. Overall experience was great, but foods service a bit average, we requested chilli sauce it took a while to get us. "as forgotten" During dinner hours, it was really busy, and only 2 waitress, if you're hungry like me, go slightly earlier than 6.30pm. Food quality served hot and delicious. So far no complaints about the food tastes. The only weird thing was the chilli oil wontons, as you can see from my image, there were something different from chilli oil (*actually it was soy sauce, vinegar and sesame) taste good too. Just feel like ordered the food but received something else. Customer service was awesome, friendly attitude and good for recommendations. Parking 🅿 available just right beside the restaurant. Restaurant located at the corner from the building, it stand out and pretty easy to catch your attention. Food promotion also available for dine in. We got 20% off on our total bill. Extremely disappointing experience - When we called to book the table, we had pre-ordered 2 dishes as advised by the restaurant. When we arrived for our reservation, the 3 dishes we ordered came out within 15 minutes. However, the remaining two dishes (a fried rice dish and an appetiser) took an hour to arrive. We requested the dishes to be followed up multiple times during the wait, and we were met with rude and dismissive comments. We also confirmed with the staff that we had 2 dishes pre-ordered at the beginning of our visit. During our 3rd confrontation with the staff, they informed us that only 1 dish was pre-ordered. Not once did we receive an apology from the staff for the unprofessionalism. This could’ve been easily prevented if the staff had listened to our requests from the start and been more thorough.

Ps. Based on what I overheard and observed, pretty sure one of the staff members went to get an ingredient for our dish half an hour after we had arrived.

Last night I went to Golden Bell with my mother and this was without doubt the worst dining experience I have ever had. We had been there previously when the last owners were there. The food was what we expected for the price. The service was atrocious, the manager was extremely rude, practically threw the menus at us, made no eye contact and was impatient taking our order. I noticed that we were not offered a specials menu, but they were written in Chinese and reading other reviews I note that others have had the same experience when caucasian. When the food was delivered to our table it was thrown down, the servings were on the scant side and we were pleased to finish our meal and leave. When paying, the woman asked me to round up the bill to include a generous tip. I'm sorry but I leave tips for good service and a positive dining experience, they should not be ASKED for. I need to also stress that this is the very first negative review I have...
