Updated review:
I was delighted to see OLS expanding, however as a result, the service has slipped considerably. When ordering coffee and food as takeaway, often the coffees are made and cold by the time the food is delivered. Sometimes the food is barely toasted or has gone cold. On a few occasions now I've ordered food with coffee and the food has not arrived, and I've had to leave for appointments so basically have paid for items I did not receive.
Also, the coffee is hit and miss depending on who is behind the counter. When it's busy, which is regular now thanks to their new seating area, it seems all semblance of organisation has gone out the window.
OLS was my regular. Now it's only used when I'm running out the door and only have time to walk around the corner.

This small establishment tucked away on Riversdale might not rely on gimmicks to pull the customers in, but they let their coffee do the talking. One of the most reliable lattes in the area, and their small but focused menu delivers a one-two punch. Highly recommend The Local - a collection of melted cheeses with a...
Read moreWas here recently and a young gentleman working there advised me that the bowl for tips at the front counter does NOT get distributed to the staff each day as it should - or even EVER. He said that the money from that tips bowl is even used sometimes to make change for the till. This is APPALLING behaviour by the owner and needs to change.
The customers believe that the tips they give are being given to the employees working there. These tips should be distributed to staff DAILY and not STOLEN by the business. If you’re not going to give the tips to the staff, don’t have a bowl there for tips. Disappointing to see a business owner not doing what is right by these young people working hard - they deserve these tips.
When I asked him if he’s receiving due additional pay for hours worked before 7am (including partial hour) he said they were not. Another way this business needs to treat their workers fairly and in line with the law.
Otherwise a nice cafe but this has really put me off. Give the workers their tips at the end of each...
Read moreStumbled across this cafe a few weeks back. Was incredibly impressed with the kids menu. So many cafes, and one in particular close by that’s very popular, don’t offer a kids menu. Or if they do it’s pretty average and just not healthy. We can order a kids meal without having to pay the full price for an adult meal that won’t get finished by a two year old and also eat our meal without worrying about selecting items to give to our daughter. That’s a really considerate and sensible policy.
Food quality is sensational. We’ve been to lots of cafes and the scrambled eggs are amazing. Creamy and fluffy. Excellent sides (black pudding is amazing and not common but a necessity in my opinion!), and really generous servings.
The most attractive part is the price, it’s very well priced and when you can provide food like that that’s cheaper than your competitors, you’re going to be in front. The staff are lovely, and we had a long chat to Dave as well. He gets it, he just knows what’s happening and is a really nice guy.
