Golden Emperor — Restaurant in Melbourne

I Phone ordered fried rice, lemon chicken, chicken soup and prawn crackers, was told 20 minutes. When I got there I paid and was told wont be long, half an hour later I was told another 10 minutes which turned into another half an hour before I got my order which was missing the soup and I told the lady and she went and got the soup. I get home and discover no sauce for my lemon chicken. I phoned them and told them my order took an hour and a half from when I called and I get home and no lemon sauce and stale prawn crackers. I get told oh sorry and then silence. I asked for compensation for my missing item and get told oh we don’t do that????? WHAT???? I paid for sauce and didn’t get it, I don’t recommend this place at all, I understand that things can take a while but when after all that waiting my order isn’t right and they don’t even offer to...

My family and I have been going to "The Golden Emperor" for over 20 years, on and off. We have seen management change and quality of food fluctuate over the years. WE decided to go back and give them a try just recently, after deciding not to go there 5 years ago, as management had changed.

I was pleased with the food served, and the speed of service.

Update We have been back now 4 or 5 times to date, and I would say the meals at the "Golden Emperor" are back to its previous best! Terrific San Choy Bow ! Definitely one of our best chinese restaurants in Sunbury again.

Absolutely awful... Waited almost 2 hours for our mains and when they arrived we couldn't eat some of them. The table beside us arrived before us and didn't get their order taken until 15 minutes after us, but then their food all came out at once (entrees and mains). Our rice was all stuck together and came to the table more than 10 minutes before the mains arrived, so it was cold, the crispy steak in plum sauce tasted like it was cooked in petrol and the service was, well let's just say you can't complain about what you don't get....
