Gozleme & Grill — Restaurant in Melbourne

I discovered gozleme several years ago and often get a hankering for it. FYI - it’s pronounced 'gerz-leh-meh' without too much emphasis on the r." The word gözleme is derived from the Türkiye word közleme, meaning "to grill/cook on the embers". I’m a savoury girl and find these stuffed turnovers a nice change from mainstream food. The dough is usually unleavened, and made only with flour, salt and water, so it’s light and easy to eat. Although originally a breakfast item or light homemade snack, it has become more popular at any time of the day. At Gozleme & Grill you order is freshly made to with plenty of options, there is something for everyone here. I chose the pumpkin, feta and chilli gozleme minus the chilli. It takes at least 10 minutes for the staff to make it which was fine by me because that = fresh. Gozleme would be one of the healthier takeaway food options these days and I find the portion size deal as both a snack if I haven’t eaten all day, or as a complete lunch / dinner. There are a few tables to sit and eat your meal here, which are beautiful and kinda represent the colours and vibrancy of Türkiye. Nice desserts available as well. Notes: Wheelchair accessible. Exceptional food and exceptional staff. There are a handful vegan gozleme options on the menu and the dough itself is made with rice milk. If you are plant based, I definitely recommend visiting as the staff are very catering to vegans/vegetarians.

I had the veggie plus gozleme, with added chilli marinated potatoes. Nothing I could fault. I also had their pumpkin balaclava. Perfect finish to a perfect meal. Visit while doing your groceries or just stop to give it a go when passing through.

We were served by a very extremely rude Asian lady. We asked for a gozleme with egg and cheese only, as it was for a toddler, and she refused to make us one. She repeated and rudely told us that no changes can be made to the menu although our request was just to leave out the mushrooms- that's it. if we hadden already ordered the adult meals then we would have definitely went elsewhere. Definitely not coming back!
