I seriously did not think that there was such a thing as a bad Chicken Parma. Until today that is. Service was wonderful, but when my Parma came out it was warm at best and the chips weren’t much better. The chicken was dry, the crumbs were soggy and it seriously lacked taste. Very bland indeed. It was obvious that this Parma was not cooked fresh. It had been sitting in a warmer or similar for quite some time. That could be the only explanation. I didn’t think that a Parma could be rated any less than a 5 or 6. This didn’t even deserve a rating. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen? Maybe a mix up as to why I was served my meal in this condition. The wait wasn’t long so there is no way in the world it would have been served only just warm if it was cooked fresh. The Parma is my go to meal so I won’t be back.
So this is your reply.
Thank you for your valuable feedback.
We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience with the Chicken Parma. We always strive to deliver fresh, high-quality meals, and it’s disappointing to hear that your dish didn’t meet those standards. It sounds like there was a lapse in quality control, and we deeply regret that the meal you received was not freshly prepared and served at the right temperature. We can assure you this is not typical of our kitchen, and we will be reviewing our processes to ensure that this doesn’t happen again. We truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we’d love the chance to welcome you back for a much better experience.
Thank you from the team at Grand Hotel.
After I submitted my review yesterday, I went through and read other reviews. It does appear that this is common, particularly with the Parma. Same comments, soggy on outside, dry on inside and bland. So please stop with the lip service and actually do something about it. these reviews have been ongoing for 12 months. 24 hours later and I still have a shit taste in my mouth from your food. I spoke to a boke today that I work with that lives in the area and he laughed and replied that your hotel has gone backwards in the last 12 months or so. It used to be his and his friends local but not anymore. Sounds like a change of supplier or chef should be on the cards. Or maybe its just upper management like yourself that is...

Edit: we ate here on the evening of 21/6/18 (we were seated at table 27) for the first time in many months. My husband, who had been very much looking forward to one of your delicious steaks, even skipping lunch so he could fully enjoy it, ordered his steak to be cooked rare. What arrived was a steak that was partially blue. He tried several times to flag down a staff member, but we were placed in a booth near the kitchen and we got literally no attention once they served our meals. On previous occasions, we've had staff member check on us soon after meals are served. We were not checked on at all. Plates from our entrees and bread rolls, and empty glasses were piled up on the end of the table. On noticing we had finished eating the server came to clear our plates and asked how everything was. Hubby mentioned that the steak was undercooked, even by his standards (as someone who does enjoy a rare steak) and indicated a pretty large uneaten portion on his plate. She apologised profusely and said she would get someone to come and talk to us about it. Several minutes later she returned, and apologised again. No one came to talk to us about it and we were offered no compensation for a meal he could not finish.
Unfortunately this experience has tarnished our opinion of your establishment. I personally always recommend The Grand as a great place to go in Mornington. I wil hesitate to do so...
Read moreWe went for a lazy Sunday Morning drive with no particular destination in mind but somehow ended up in Mornington. Well what a beautiful seaside township. By the time we arrived and shopped a bit Lunch was the order of the day and the Grand Hotel caught our eye from a distance, so we wandered in like a couple of windswept, hungry tourists. We were immediately greeted with a Smile from a lass who prompted “Table for 2”? We were seated in a nice warm cozy dining room which was relatively full and I thought we were very lucky to be seated without a reservation. Now having acquired recently a brand new shiny Pensioners Card we thought we would put it to the test, we both ordered entrees, mains and desert and to finish it off a cappuccino. The entrees came out in a reasonable time, they were both sufficient and made good eating. The mains also came out in a reasonable time as well and were yummy and the amount of food was worthy of a hungry pensioner’s appetite, by the time we finished desert we were elegantly contented by the culinary servings that were presented to us. We did order coffee but had to prompt the waitress after 15 mins that we were ready for the coffees, that was the only hitch for an almost perfect afternoon. We found that the Grand Hotel provided good Pub Food at good quantities and at a great price, 2 x 3 course lunch including coffees for a total of $45.00. Well done Grand Hotel and many thanks to the Lass who served us on the day. Highly...
