just now NEW Superb! I have had the beef and chicken pho here and they are utterly delicious. The broth is to die for - delicate with a depth of flavour, the meat is tender and the veggies are fresh. I thought my mother made the best chicken and beef broths, but these are strong contenders. Sorry mum!

8 months ago Dine in | Dinner | $100–120 It was our 6 year Wedding anniversary. My wife an I wanted to try somewhere different. We didn't want to let the gluten free tag put us off. What an amazing night, the food was mouth watering and service was fantastic. Feed back with grace. …More Photo 1 in review by Ross Hunter Photo 2 in review by Ross Hunter Photo 3 in review by Ross Hunter Photo 4 in review by Ross Hunter

3 weeks ago NEW Dine in | Dinner | $40–60 The best gluten free restaurant in all of Melbourne. All the dishes are nothing short of amazing and the entire menu is gluten free. They are also extremely mindful of allergies and have a lot of vegan options. I can highly recommended the …More Photo 1 in review by R Lucas Photo 2 in review by R Lucas 1

10 months ago Dine in | Dinner | $20–40 Absolutely amazing. We both got rice bowls. They were a bit pricey so I was hesitant at first but definitely not disappointed. I had the beef curry which was divine. Good proportion and very filling. Look forward to going again. Photo 1 in review by Myra Watson Photo 2 in review by Myra Watson 1

Read moreSadly, this was one of our most disappointing food experiences on the Peninsula. We felt that the food was ordinary and the atmosphere as flat as. It was the opposite of what we know a good Vietnamese food experience can be, whether in the country itself which we’ve visited, on Victoria St or even compared to what we’ve had in the past in humble old Rosebud. It was also well below the par of its sister restaurant up on the main drag of Mornington IMO.
This place has a high google rating. Most reviews are positive. Also, articles about the wonders of the place proudly adorn the walls of the restaurant. We had legitimate expectations of a good food experience here. But pretty much everything was a let down to us. We started with the duck pancake. There’s no getting past this - the pancake was awful. It split when we tried to pick it up to eat and it was rubbery. All became clear when goods were being delivered into the restaurant during the meal service. One of the goods that came in was Green’s pancake mix in a plastic bottle. That solved that issue, you’d think. The pancake wasn't made fresh, we cannily surmised. It appeared it was made using commercial bottle pancake mix. The duck itself was OK but far from exceptional.
The mains were underwhelming too. These were the signature Sontum salad which we had with prawn net spring rolls as the added “protein”, and the chargrilled lemon grass chicken. Both dishes were bland and lacked flavour. We resorted to using the chilli flakes, the hoisin sauce and the soy sauce on the table to try and get something, anything, flavour wise out of both dishes. The addition of the assorted salad leaves with both dishes, the type you get from supermarkets - no coriander, no Vietnamese mint - summed up that these were not such good dishes, or not as they were presented to us on this day anyway. Out of the two dishes we had coming to over $50 of our hard earned, apart from lamenting the lack of flavour in both, the only positive thing we could say to each other at the end of them was, “…the prawn net spring rolls have an interesting texture”.
The atmosphere was flat here as well. All we’d heard from the start of the meal was a Lady Gaga playlist on repeat. It was annoying. We don’t mind the odd track but 40-50 minutes worth, no thanks, especially when the food experience falls way short. The staff looked generally disengaged tbh and perhaps a bit worryingly, I didn’t spot one person who looked remotely Vietnamese to me.
I could go on and on but I won’t. This was a poor dining experience for us. We...
Read moreWe have eaten here on and off for a few years, I have had reactions in the past with dishes containing garlic/onion previously-the Aubergine curry-but regretfully wanted to give them another try. We dined at Le Feu this evening and had pre-booked a specific seat a week prior. We were running 15 mins late so called the restaurant. Upon arrival, our seat had been changed into a group seat and we were placed elsewhere at the corner of the restaurant. There was a large group right beside us and the noise was too much at times as the restaurant is very small (feels cramped). We ordered and I specifically requested no onion & no garlic as I am allergic not low FODMAP/intolerance. My meal contained shallots in the rice which are an allergen as they belong to the allium family. Hence I have been suffering afterwards both night/day after with a reaction, luckily not as serious as it could have been at this stage anyway. Food service/timing is a real turn off because when my husband's entree was brought out, I thought mine would not be too far away but he already finished by the time mine came-about 15-20 minutes later. Entree-bao my husband liked-my steam dumplings were like packet bought. Our mains arrived not too far apart-my husband ordered the wagu curry which he enjoyed and I had the mongolian wagu-not expecting it to be made the way it had with a processed sauce on top like straight out of a sauce bottle. Usually Mongolian dishes are cooked in a simmer sauce-this just had sliced beef with the sauce drizzled over it. The wagu was chewy and definitely not worth the price. Salad served on the side was nice as it had a delicious sauce. Much better tasting than the meat sauce! The manager came to talk to us afterwards but did not pre-warn us that the kitchen was closing so we could order dessert as it was my husband's birthday! So no dessert. Service was slow and not attentive during the waiting time experienced with the entrees service & mains--pretty much since we were in the corner. I’m sure we will not return at this stage as it did not live up to our...
