Disappointing and underwhelming. We booked 10 people for my birthday dinner, first issue coming in the door they wanted to charge us $4.5 per head to bring a birthday cake. Whilst a cakeage fee is not uncommon, this is an excessive charge and just downright greedy seeing as we were likely to spend in excess of $1000. Our food took approx 40 minutes to arrive from ordering, I ordered the scotch fillet, cooked medium. It came out dry and grey, well and truly past well done, this is the first time in my life I have ever sent food back. My partner ordered the eye fillet, cooked medium which was also cooked to well done. My brother in law ordered the eye fillet medium rare, came out between medium well and well done. My sisters vegetable skewer could not be identified as anything safe to eat as the entire thing was charcoal black and inedible. The wait staff did apologise and offered to re-cook my steak which I accepted and comped my drink. However they only replaced the steak, which took 20 minutes to re-cook. By the time my new steak came out my chips were cold, as was my sauce. The biggest issue here is that someone would had to have put a thermometer in the steaks as part of the cooking process. They knew these were well over-cooked and sent them out anyway. The 2nd steak was better but the night was already soured by everything else. Two of the people with us regularly come to this restaurant and said they have never had bad food here, not sure if we were just unlucky or there wasn't a proper chef on but bad luck doesn't change the fact that our bill was over $700 for a very...
Read moreWalked into Squires and first impression was pretty good. Was welcomed warmly by a member of staff, with a smile and was shown to our table. Looking around the restaurant, looked very clean and tidy. The staff were dressed very smart and looked very efficient and happy. My wife ordered the vegetable skewer for entree followed by eye fillet with baked potato, asparagus and garlic sauce Myself ordered lamb chops for entree followed by porterhouse steak, chips, flash fried onion and mushroom sauce. Both requested medium rare for both. All the food came to the table in a timely manner. Overall the food presented was good. But! The lamb chops I had were a little under done for my liking. Both steaks were perfectly cooked. Juicy and not chewy. The vegetables presented were good. A couple of points. The asparagus my wife had was perfectly cooked. However there was a very strong taste of garlic which did spoil the asparagus taste. My wife's garlic sauce she could not have because she didn't like it. I tried it on a chip and the taste of garlic was overwhelming. So strong. I like garlic but even too much for me. We had skinny cappuccino each but was undrinkable. We were informed it was made with long life milk. Sorry. Should be fresh milk. The only other thing are tables are pretty close together. Unfortunately the two couples next to us were rather loud, almost shouting at each and some of the language was a bit inappropriate. Luckily my wife is a bit deaf. Final thoughts. The venue is great. The staff were wonderful. Besides the points above, the food was good. Overall will give a good...
Read moreWe came here to celebrate my brother's 30th (small family gathering). The staff are welcoming on arrival and the entire time were not only ensuring we had drinks, food and other (cutlery, glasses, water, etc.), were also making sure other guests were set. The seating, tables and overall atmosphere is really comfortable. We had a booth table and it was great! I had a Long Island Iced Tea which was really well made. We all shared the share platter entree (pictured) and that was insane! Nearly all of us agreed the baked mushroom and feta dish was the star. I wish Squire's Loft would bake me a bathtub of this dish so I can just be one with the mushrooms and feta. This entree is huge as well, it was more than enough for 5 of us. I had the burger with chips and the blue cheese sauce as I don't eat steaks but everyone else had steaks and ribs. The burger was great and everyone enjoyed their steaks and/or ribs and said they were cooked to perfection. Please, I also need a bathtub of the blue cheese sauce. It changed my life. I sent pictures to my boyfriend and he felt left out and I think betrayed that I'd eat such delicious food without him so we are planning on coming to Squire's for a date night! I'm unsure what the bill was, my mum paid and said she was quite surprised - she thought it was going to be more expensive. It was a great night! Great seating/vibes/atmosphere, great service, great food and great prices. We will definitely recommend to...
