Stayed here as part of a company planning retreat. They took great care of our group. The rooms were clean and open, beds very comfortable to sleep in. The conference rooms were set up nicely, with lots of staff checking in on our needs, they provided continental breakfast, a light lunch, tea & coffee, refreshments through out the day. Staff were available and eager to answer any special requests. For dinner, we ate at the in house restaurant Eighteen78 which was an incredible dining experience with a six course meal prepared by their master chef. We were particularly appreciative of the fact that they opened it up on a Monday night (usually their day off) just for our group to be able to dine there. We had a wonderful evening full of good food and laughs and I was especially impressed with our chef's ability to adapt delicious vegan versions of all the dishes he created on the spot, due to one of our members having dietary restrictions. The cozy bar provided an intimate setting for socializing and relaxing at the end of the night, and the bar staff's hospitality and warmth left us all in a great mood. At check out we were given plenty of attention and assistance, consistent with the treatment through out the entire two days we occupied the motel. Parking was never an issue for our group, as there were plenty of spaces in the car park with access right in front of the rooms. Pool and spa were clean and easy to access and we were able enjoy the beach, just a short walk down the street. I will definitely return to this Best Western and I confidently recommend it. Be sure to try out the local ale and the wine list which is...
Read moreBrooklands has potential, but honestly, the pool hours are a complete joke—and it’s enough to make me reconsider ever coming back.
Let’s get one thing straight: closing the pool at 8:00 PM is ridiculous. This is supposed to be a modern facility, yet it can’t manage to keep the pool open past early evening? People work full-time jobs, have families, responsibilities—and by the time we finally get a moment to ourselves, the pool is already shut. What’s the point of even offering it as an amenity if it’s basically inaccessible to anyone with a normal schedule?
It feels like the management hasn’t even considered how inconvenient this is. A 10:00 PM closing time should be the bare minimum. Other places understand this and accommodate their members—why can’t Brooklands? There’s nothing relaxing about rushing to squeeze in a quick swim before getting kicked out. And don’t even get me started on how crowded it gets during that tiny window of availability. It’s frustrating, unfair, and honestly, lazy planning.
It’s a shame because the rest of the facility isn’t bad. The gym is decent, the staff are nice, and the building is well-kept. But the pool issue completely overshadows the positives for me. I didn’t sign up to be on someone else’s schedule—I signed up to use the amenities I’m paying for.
Unless the pool hours are extended to something reasonable like 10 PM, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere—and I know I’m not the only one...
Read moreMy partner and I were due to stay here after a visit down the Peninsula. Booked via hotels.com for a room at cost $360, which I felt pricey, but given it was December felt had little choice. Arrived at the accomodation to find it really was motel style, and not the resort style I thought we would get for $360. ||||Room was dark and smelled mouldy. Immediately went back to reception and asked if we could have a refund as didnt want to stay in this level of accomodation for a special night for my partner and I. Advised by reception no managers on and they would note my dislike and advise management so a refund could be processed|||| In meantime I could request a refund through hotels.com. In spite of not staying, Brooklands refused to refund my $360 advising it was a non refundable booking. Even though the property I felt not as described and certainly not worth the money being charged. It's not like we didnt try to stay there!||||Seriously I would not pay $360 for a motel style accomodation. Ended up paying for a different hotel a cheaper amount and better room! Would not reccomend this hotel. Hotels.com ended up giving me a $100 goodwill voucher given Brookland behaved the way they were. ||||There are better options, far cheaper. Overpriced in my opinion, and unfair refund policies. Would never...
