Grill’d has been a beloved Australian burger chain for many years now. Perhaps it doesn’t stand out, I am yet to hear someone called Grill’d their favourite place to eat.

ALLL OF THIS CHANGED THE DAY I STEPPED INTO THE MAROONDAH HWY RESTAURANT. Tucked below the busy roadway in the forlorn suburb of Croydon, is an eatery pulsing with life. The smell of freshly baked bread fills the air of the carpark, it’s intoxicating and rivals with the sweet smell of barbecue. You set foot into a large beautifully decorated modern space and a gourmet kitchen fitted with high-end commercial appliances. You are greeted warmly by the hosts and as you look around you wonder, “WHY AREN’T THERE MORE PEOPLE HERE?!” I personally prefer the booths, they’re comfortable and private but feel free to sit anywhere really. First-class construction and building services design have ensured superior quality acoustics and lighting lubricating all five senses of that glorious food experience. I praise the chefs of Croydon Grill’d, thank you for being so generous with the avocado, the cheese and for thoughtfully selecting the freshest beetroot and tomato, for cooking the Impossible patty PERFECTLY every single time without fail and for completing the burger with the softest and freshest buns - so fresh that your fingertips are dusted in flour.

I was really disappointed in the quality of food here.

After ordering our food i came back to order a drink, stood there for a few minutes while the girl was standing there on her tablet. There were a few people lined up and no one was taking orders so i had to ask if I could place an order when no one was paying attention to the waiting customers right in front of them.

I got the ceaser salad and the chicken was overcooked and had a horrible chewy texture, couldn't eat any of it. Then the croutons were stale, definitely not fresh at all.

I had the ceaser salad at the Burwood Grill'd and it was much better, croutons were soft fresh pieces of bread.

Nothing tasted good about it so I had to call someone over and ask to get a burger instead.

I was put off from having the salad so I asked if they could make me a Simon Says burger instead. Waitress took the food and a burger came out pretty quickly, but it was a beef burger... an honest mistake, she must have misheard me but it was embarrassing to ask them to swap again as I don't eat beef.

They came out with the correct burger but I asked for panini but they gave me traditional bun. It was fine I ate it and it was good.

I come to grill'd a lot and i have been to their other stores and had mixed experiences, but none as bad as this one.
