GYRO GYRO OLI — Restaurant in Melbourne

Just moved to the Malvern east area. Went for a walk to get a feel for my new surroundings. Spotted this place one night as we were getting pizza near by. Had a quick look and it seemed decent. Could see the meat spinning over coals.

My partner got a salad and some sweets to compliment the pizza we had just got. They were yum!

My partner repeatedly goes back there to buy the same sweets.

Sunny day rolls around and we are out walking the dog, feeling hungry. We said let’s get some souvlaki’s! I step into the establishment for the first time and get a closer look at the meat. It now smells incredible. Nice thick juicy meat on the spit. Fat dripping onto actual hot coals. This creates a new level of flavour.

My mixed souv and partners falafel souv were total knockouts ! Generous serving, stuffed with meat, soo tasty. As we were walking home, reminiscing on what was such a delicious Sunday treat, we couldn’t stop talking about the bread! The wrap that encased all the good stuff. It was so fresh, warm and soft. It’s a combination of all these little elements that make this souvlaki superior. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their menu.

GEORGE IS AMAZING!! I have severe allergies and called up to see if they could accomodate for me, and George went above and beyond! He made sure to cook my food on a different stove to avoid cross contamination with my allergens. I have experienced very few restaurants that are this helpful and understanding. I recently tried the souvlaki, and it was absolutely amazing! The meat was perfectly grilled—tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
