From go to woe it was terrible Went for a meal on the recommendation of friends who said that the meals were great here Well let me tell You i do not share the same opinion We started of with the cheesy bacon bread and that was delicious We then order a rump steak that was to be cooked medium to well done and a chicken snitzel The chicken snitzel came out it wasn’t fresh it was processed and the vegetables were cold and chips over done The steak came out raw we asked a waiter to come over and look and he too did not agree it was medium to well done even though it’s little flag thing they stick into it said it was My husband told the waiter to take it back and refund his money The young waiter didn’t come back to advise what was happening so about 20mins later my husband approached him and asked what’s was happening about refund and he said it had already been refunded back to us know this was not the case as they did not have our card to do that I approached the lady taking the orders at the till and asked her how a refund could be return to our account if she didn’t not have our card and she Said it couldn’t I explained what the waiter had told us and she said she knew nothing about it and offered me a cash refund Which I accepted then the young waiter came by the till and I spoke with him and said that what he had told US was not true he then said to the lady that he had told her and I said to her so you knew about it and she said yes but she was too busy to do anything about it I apologised to the waiter What sort of service is this If I hadn’t gone and chased it up i would still be waiting on a refund that would never have comeback back to my account Then next my husband went to get money out and requested $200 when it spat out of the machine it only spat out $150 He told staff they came to have a look at machine and then told him they couldn’t do anything about it so $50 down the drain My husband was upset about this and expressed his disappointment that nothing could be done The staff member just walked away In fairness he did come back And asked his name and no and if it was found in the machine they would call him Well I will reserve judgement and will wait to see if that happens Overall a terrible night and won’t be coming back in a hurry Good idea to make sure the staff know the procedures about the refunds Also about telling lies to cover...
Read moreWe went for dinner last night and was greatly disappointed.
First of all we waiting a good 15 minutes before someone came to greet us, gave the gentleman our name he basically threw the menu's into my hand and these then fell on the floor, and said table four. I politely asked where table 4 was as I picked the menu's off the floor, he point over his shoulder. I asked once again where as it's a large dinning area. He once again pointed over his shoulder. With that we searched for the table which was way down the back.
Secondly when I order the women named Venessa was chewing gum, I gave her our table number and proceed to order. She was extremely uninterested, I asked if the chips and bacon came with sour cream and she goes no I asked if I can order it and she said when the waiter comes out and gives you your meal tell them to bring you some. I said I wished to order it now then the meal will not get cold waiting for it to arrive after the meal comes she rolled her eyes.
She asked me 3 times what my table number was when I had already given it 2 other times.
When our meal arrived we ordered the USA platter it was such a small portion considering it states this is for two people!!
It contained a handful of chips, two sliders, four of the smallest ribs, a bit of coleslaw and 2 chicken wings. This also missing items onion rings and 2 chicken wings. I then had to line back up and advise Venessa of the missing items, We then had to waiting a good 20 mins and ask another waiter for the missing items.
Thirdly My son ordered a burger it was so greasy and tasted like a frozen pattie he couldn't eat it.
After leaving we ordered Chinese such a waste of money.
We couldn't wait to leave such a shame considering we used to go there quite often a...
Read moreI’ve always enjoyed visiting the Hallam Hotel thanks to the incredible staff who truly make the place feel like home. Rowan, Mel, Dylan, Zac, Dilmi, Ryan, Scott from Gaming, Vanessa from the bistro, and Dee the security guard — you are all outstanding. Friendly, hard-working, down-to-earth, and full of passion. You go above and beyond for customers, and it’s always a pleasure dealing with you.
Unfortunately, my recent experience with a staff member named Nadia was very disappointing. When I first asked for a coffee, she responded with a rude, dismissive tone, saying the machine wasn’t warmed up. I came back 20 minutes later and was met with a harsh look and told, “I told you it’s out of order.” No apology or politeness — just attitude.
Later, around 11:29 AM, my husband was having a coffee outside in the smoking area when some customers asked him why the bistro door wasn’t open. Wanting to help, he went inside to let Nadia know, but again she responded rudely, snapping that they don’t open until 11:30 — with no appreciation or courtesy.
To add to that, earlier that morning around 10:10 AM, the gaming entrance was locked. I had to call for someone to open it, and it turned out they had forgotten to turn the key to auto. These kinds of oversights and unfriendly responses really let down what is otherwise a great team.
I hope management takes this feedback on board. One person’s attitude shouldn’t overshadow the excellent service the rest of the staff...
