A lunch venue that puts all their soul into everything they provide. Blown away! Around the table, no one walked away with anything bad to say. So, letâs break it downâŚ
Atmosphere: ** With the new outside hard-top extension and the amazing layout inside, its hard not to feel comfortable wherever you sit. While the seats are a little hard (and can be uncomfortable for some) and the tables a little awkward to negotiate at times â it still has a way to make you feel social, welcomed, and comfortable to be there. Well Done!
Customer Service: * We had a large group, and they donât book for large groups, which is fair considering it was a brilliant weather day and there were 10 of us. It was busy, and when we stated our numbers, it was the determination of not only the representatives, but the manager who (called to arms) accommodated our party, brilliantly. The table was set with fresh water & drinking glasses, menus and buckets of cutlery and napkins. Ordering is at the register (which I donât mind) â So on order, it took 8 minutes (in peak lunchtime rush) for the dish to come out. That is amazing in itself! It was a tribute to this establishment that all representatives (even the hand off to the manager as a party) was all with smiles and without any drama at all. Really well done!
Food (why we are here): * Too many dishes to quote on all, so my order was âThe Deep Blueâ with Greek salad, upgrade to Flake and add 2 Calamari rings. And you get SO much for your money! I couldnât finish it! Salad: Nice Greek salad with crumbed fetta, was a little lacking in tomato (understandable considering floods, inflation, etc) but was amazingly fresh, tasty and deliciously light on the dressing to allow for all the full Mediterranean flavours to mix. Flake: The batter was a little large and puffy, but it was so light an fluffy that you just enjoyed the crisp texture while the flake flavour took it over. Calamari Rings: As with the fish, my calamari was not chewy or tough in the slightest Chips: Standard local fish and chips style chips; however, why they are deep fried, they donât over cook them. TIP: ask for it lightly salted for best palette
Overall: Itâs hard to pass up a good Fish and Chip lunch and if you are looking for one â this is closest thing (if not better) to your local. I have been here a few times and I have never walked away felling regretful of what I have paid for the excellent food & service I been provided. ...

Sugar on fish. Thatâs the name of my experience.
I care to specify that I am a fun of Hunky Dory and I often go there to eat whenever I am out and need to get a good meal ( for taste and good nutrition).
I never experienced a fish seasoned with sugar (chicken salt) EVER in my whole life, and I wonder how can a chef even think about doing this.
My fish was, a part from overcooked, terribly sweet.
I could clearly taste there was sugar on it and feeling with my teeth the sugar grains.
Of course could Not finish it.
I was simply astonished, and needed to tell the manager that the fish was terrible and the chicken salt on top of fish was such an inadequate decision , especially for the quality of that particular chicken salt used ( as was simply SUGAR). Moreover, the high amount of it on my food was way over a well thought, healthy, choose.
The manager asked me to talk with the chef as he could not say anything but that chicken salt ( sugary salt on fish) is actually something that Hunky Dory uses all the time, in all stores ( which is absolutely not true at all). When I asked the chef the question he confirmed they use chicken salt and looked pretty proud of his food, but he specified that he used âjust a little bitâ.
That little bit made my fish fillet tasting as a dessert, and that â little bitâ was everywhere in my plate, everything was covered in sugar grains essentially!
He offered me a refund, which I preferred not to accept as I had the impression this was given me as they thought getting money back and eat for free for the real reason for my complaint.
I am still wondering how can someone even think to put sugar salt on a fish GRILLED fillet.
Iâm still in disbelief that today I ate a sweet fishâŚ. Seriously regretting to have looked for Hunky Dory for the whole shopping centre before eating my meal, as I was determined to go to my â favourite restaurant â rather than quickly grab a snack just anywhere.
Some people, sorry to say, in all honesty , should really taste what they are serving, preferably prior to give any to their customers.
As conclusion, Iâll be more careful on choosing Hunky Dory going forward, as I guess standards of the food quality and service can be very disappointing depending on where you go and who manage the...

A family of fishermen since 1927.
Inspired by almost 90 years of fishing on the Greek Islands, Hunky Dory was established in 2004 as a family business with a vision to offering healthier seafood options along with the more traditional fish and chips. Whether itâs a delicious grilled fillet of Salmon or Whiting, Greek or spinach salad and a healthy serve of brown rice, thereâs something for everyone. Traditionally fish and chips have been a take away food, but we wanted to create a comfortable and casual setting where customers could dine in and enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with their food.
Our aim is to be the best at what we do. We take pride in preparing and cooking fresh, tasty and healthy meals made to order. Our mouth watering seafood is delicious and tasty incorporating unique marinades and sauces that will keep you coming back. Our menu provides many healthy options such as simply grilled fish and wholesome salads to create a perfectly balanced meal.
