Hunky Dory Fish & Chips Oakleigh — Restaurant in Melbourne

This has to be the best fish and chips that I've had. Firstly, when walking into the store, there isn't a fishy or greasy smell. It smells clean. And it looks spotless even with customers inside enjoying their meals. Secondly, the front of house staff were really lovely and tried to make space for my party of two (myself on crutches with a spinal injury, and my elderly father with a walking stick) when we got there shortly before they had a private function booking out the entire venue (it was a pleasant day so we sat under the umbrellas in the mall). And then there's the food - we got a meal for two and a side of southern style cauliflower. The cauliflower was heavenly, the calamari was approximately half a squid (slight exaggeration, but it was huge) and cooked absolutely perfectly in a light batter that doesn't overpower the food and doesn't sit heavy in the stomach. The flake was high quality and again my, perfectly cooked. What we thought was going to be a small side of chips each was a mountain of chips that were nice and crisp outside and fluffy inside which we couldn't finish because their serving was so generous. I can't leave out the dipping sauces. Absolutely divine is all I can say. If the pricing seems a little higher than your average fish and chips, it's absolutely worth it for the quality and quantity of what you get. They really do cook everything to that moment of perfection, and the serving you get is not lacking but instead is generous - I don't remember the last time a meal for two people left two people full without being able to finish the meal. Unique Dish: Juicy Grilled Salmon - Crisp on the thin exterior - tender inside. Each molecule bursting with spice and sea.

My 1.5 year old toddler homie are banging those hot thick chips into his mouth like there's no tomorrow.

Best Deal: Large Chips at $10 only enough for a Gigantic Footie Champion. 2 Big Fish Fillets with Carbs and Salads for under $25 is a steal.

Food: Generous Portion size. Belly Filling. Good amount of Meat & Chips. Crunch Salad with Dark Green Leaves with tangy taste of fresh citrus lemon. Love the QQ rice base.

I give it 5 / 5 stars.

I will definitely try different dishes & drinks next time as they all look tasty.

I highly recommend you to bring your family, colleagues and friends there this week for a pleasant gastronomic experience.

I ordered $70 worth of food. I ordered the flake pack with a greek salad. The Greek salad never came. The can of Coke was warm. The seafood salad was minimal yet cost more than the flake pack. The fried flake lost its crunchiness and was rubbery instead. The tartare sauce was horrible, and I opted to have tartare sauce that I bought from Coles, which tasted heaps better. The delivery bag was torn. When I contacted the place to order a refund for not including my Greek salad, they (including manager) didn’t know what to do.
