I Spice Thai Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

I have often been going here with my family ever since it opened up and typically I would have wonderful experiences; the portions would be filling and the food was outstanding in flavours and presentation. However, as of late the quality of their meals has become shocking. I ordered my favourite dish tonight (spicy and sour street noodle soup with beef) hence why I am writing this review which says a lot. For the quality of the meal you would have thought that I ordered 2 minutes before closing instead of an hour before closing. I am unsure as to whether the chefs have changed but there has been such a significant drop in quality and as someone who has worked in the hospitality field I cannot understand why they would send out a soup with beef so dry that it felt like I was eating sand next to an oasis. My cat wouldn't even eat it when he eats almost everything. It is literally the driest beef of 2023. If it were just that alone, I would not have cared but the fact that the broth was not spicy or sour at all and just tasted super watered down and almost like nothing really grossed me out. In addition to this, they also left out the beef balls, coriander and spring onions and gave me an extremely small serving yet I had to pay full price for it which is unreasonable. If they could not even meet their own standards then I would have much preferred being told that and being given the option to go somewhere else or even consider ordering something else instead of being so greatly disappointed. Such a shame to see one of my favourite restaurants end up flopping like this. In all honestly please save your money and go...

Disgusting service! We ordered approx 5-6 dishes and was asked if we wanted everything to come out at the same time which we said yes to. We waited for over 30mins for these serving robots to serve us our first dish. The rest of the items came out very slowly, one at a time. All up, it took an hour for our food to be served. My daughter had to watch us eat our food whilst she sat waiting. We were given items we didn't order and when we asked, was told the item we ordered was not available so they changed it (didn't check with us). We asked for coke with ice and was given a can of coke and a full glass of ice water?? We hardly saw any waiting staff on the restaurant floor, they all crowded near the front register and the kitchen, we had to wave our arms to get their attention or walk to the front counter to get any assistance. The 2nd time we went to the counter to get service, we had 3 staff at our table arguing with us saying they have "other priorities" in the restaurant. When I asked if their customers where a priority, one lady (young dark hair) told us they have online orders and other duties. She then told us "that's it" and stormed off, as if to threaten us only to call a female Asian lady to our table. All we wanted was some basic service but instead this restaurant expects you to wait, only have serving robots to deliver the food and will argue with you if you demand any "human service". Will never come back again, so disgusting to see this is how they run...

If I could give a zero star I would.

Decided to dine to this restaurant. Well that was the biggest mistake.

We sat down for 10 mins before anyone even took our order. Then our order was taken after calling out to someone to take our order. We then sat and waited for our food. One dish arrived really quickly, at this point we still didn’t even have cutlery or plates to eat on.

One main dish sitting in front of us we asked for some plates. An entree finally arrived and still no rice or plates or cutlery.

We continued to ask for cutlery and plates and they finally arrived.

We still sat there with one Main and no rice. We continue to ask where the rest of the food was, they said it was coming.

We then received two more mains and one of them was wrong.

We were still waiting on another main at this point all our other food had gone cold and we asked for take away containers.

We left the table went to the counter and still continued to wait for the main.

Once receiving the last main, the lady calculated the bill and still didn’t apologies for the inconvenience.

She presented the bill to us and asked us for full payment. We asked for a discount and she said nope sorry can’t do.

This place is very terribly run and I wouldn’t recommend dining her if you want to enjoy hot food...
