Ivanhoe Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

Been taking mum to the pokies for 25 years there although we live in Glenroy. Today at 1.00pm Sunday, my elderly mother won a minor on the machine which disappeared, she called the young girl who was juggling a few patrons simply said bad luck, I can’t do anything about it and walked off. I personally will be calling The gaming head office to complain about the staff & the venue. I’ll never set foot there again. A young man employed there walking around looking like he was on something and needs proper training. The toilet lights werent working a few weeks ago which was a trip hazard for the elderly, staff back stab & gossip, I’m appalled Very unprofessional & lazy

I hope management or the owner reads this.

The pokies are usually pretty quiet with a middle class to older group kinda RSL vibe which is settling compared to most other venues closer to city or that I know with a rough crowd and men that can make it not so pleasant for us women at times. They offer nice free coffee with soy & almond options although a few years back I was questioned apon asking for a free coffee by a female older employer which is not her job to worry who gets free coffees especially considering this is my families local venue & we've frequented for over 5 years. When we stepped into the venue we were greeted by a very friendly and professional staff member at the bar. We proceeded upstairs to the beautifully appointed bistro and ordered a special of blue eye cod on ratatouille with crispy fried kale. Beautiful dish. On the strength of that we returned for gnocchi Gorgonzola and an enormous beast of a Greek inspired Parma called the Adonis. I will say no more.
