This is the worst managed hotel that I have been to with un-trained, highly incompetent staff and empty promises. To begin, we booked the trip to Melbourne in time for the Formula 1, as hotels began increasing their prices with the high demand. We specifically booked the Studio Apartment as it was listed to have the amenities we require, including a personal washing machine/dryer and kitchenette INCLUDING stovetop. After booking, we called the hotel to organise staying an additional day, confirming that the price per night will not increase and we will remain in the say room. However, once we received confirmation of said change, the price increased by around $100 per night. We called back to reconfirm the price and have it changed back to what was stated, and again confirmed that the amenities that we will receive are as listed above. When we arrived to the hotel we were told that we actually have a room “upgrade” which is usually a good thing but when we got to the room, we found that the personal washing machine/dryer, is actually a shared one between all the rooms on that floor and there was no stovetop or kitchenette. We went down to discuss the lacking amenities with the receptionist, who took down the check in/out dates of our trip and offered us other suitable options that actually have the amenities we required, so although we would pay an additional $20 per night we agreed to it. But then a couple minutes later she came back to us saying that those rooms are actually only available for one night and we wont be able to stay there for the duration of our trip, so if you know the dates of our trip why bother offering a new room that we cannot even stay in?? We later got switched back to our original room (pre “upgade”) only to find we cannot even use the stovetop as it is situated right against a wall making it unusable to a right handed person without constantly knocking into the wall with their elbow and there was also no actual window ventilation to make it reasonable to cook without marinating ourselves in the smell. The ventilation they informed us of was actually a locked door that we could not open which was also blocked by a desk situated by the hotel. My father in law called the hotel and was able to speak to the franchise manager about the situation and was told that in the morning we will likely get a room upgrade to one WITH a personal washing machine and a stovetop, OR a partial refund, and we were happy with either option as it was compensation for the multiple inconveniences we had from the hotel and staff after travelling 11 hours that day. It is safe to say now that we are home that neither option has gone through, and this has been the most disappointing hotel stay ever. Would not recommend Quest Ivanhoe to any traveller.
I would also like to state here that the advertising of their website is deceitful. The room amenities of “washing machine/dryer” are listed the same for studio apartment as it for the one bedroom room, which as advised by the receptionist is the only room to have a personal one inside the room, as opposed to public. This should be clearly outlined in the amenities or stated elsewhere in the website. It was also stated per the receptionist that rooms such as the Executive Studio Apartment may be listed for the same price but have different amenities and we were just unlucky for being placed in one that did not have a stovetop, but others do? That is unfair marketing and pricing to have consumers pay the same price for two different rooms of the same listing where some have missing amenities.
After contacting the franchise owner, Bianca, post stay about the experience we had she continued to interrupt me when voicing my concerns about the hotel and when asked to stop interrupting she hung up the phone. It has been difficult to contact them regarding our concerns and any contact we have had has been unprofessional.
Edit: Interesting that the manager speaking over me, and me having to speak louder to ask her to “please do not interrupt me” is considered...
Read moreWorst apartments I have ever stayed in.No stars. The noise from other rooms meant I could not sleep. Every room has this problem. Most apartments have windows facing an ugly apartment next door. Staff are rude and invade your privacy commenting on any purchases you make The rooms are tiny The internet costly and unreliable. The baths are tiny and mine needed painting. The hotel actively encourages smoking. All rooms stink of smoke. Everyone smokes from balconies. Cigarettes are everywhere. There is only one lift. It is the slowest lift and cannot cope. It often is being seviced.if you complain about the noise the manager does not care. He told me he owned the apartments and he could do what he wants. I told him surely the customer is always right. He said not in his hotel. It was like making a complaint to Basil Fawlty. I would recommend the quest in Kew. The staff. management and rooms were wonderful. The quest kew is only minutes from quest Ivanhoe and closer to the city. They know how to make...
Read moreI stayed at the Quest Ivanhoe for 8 months in a superior apartment and had an amazing experience as a long term guest. The apartment itself was wonderful. Mine was very spacious and had a great view. I really appreciated all the amenities including the fully equipped kitchen and in unit laundry. The hotel has also been recently renovated, so all the rooms are very clean, nice, and new. Cleaning services were meticulous. The location is excellent. It’s a 5 minute walk to the Ivanhoe station and several bus stops. There are heaps of great cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby. There is also a Woolworths directly next door, which was one of my favorite perks. The best part of staying at the Quest Ivanhoe was definitely the staff. Everyone is so lovely, and they made me feel right at home from the beginning. They always went above and beyond on requests and did everything to make sure I was comfortable. Overall, I would highly recommend the Quest Ivanhoe for both short and long...
