Dinning in, Did a online order for two cappuccinos at 12:00. A waiter do not come to us till 12.15 We then discovered that the online order had not been lost. By the time we got a coffee it was 12:22. While the coffee was alright, I suggest that waiters give a higher priority to seating guests that have no water on the table. Leaving a customer waiting without a menus or water for 15minutes indicates neglect and hampers the business's ability to put more customers through. We are dailycoffee drinkers and expect certain systems to be in place. Please note when I arrived I did offer to buy the coffee at the counter and have it brought to us, but they insisted there is table service. The good news was the QR code an online ordering with smooth. Just first name email and phone number signed in as guest and paid with Google pay.
The cafe is an interesting polpular spot, has a nice atmosphere and location being on the Sunnyside of high street.
I do want to highlight that there were failings in the system not people, that could be easily improved by simply paying attention to the online orders, a new customer sitting at a table with no items. Please understand I could see other people getting their orders and being served fine, and the food looked amazing as we were right next to the kitchen, with the cooks being on the ball, I could also observe the barista working at full pace and the staff moving quickly, treating customers in a friendly manner. On return the JF burger was very good. Plenty of sauce, the patty tasted home made and was cooked perfectly. Chips were great and sizeable. Good value meal.
Leading me to believe they had an off day on my first visit. I had a nice mochachinno as well. Tasted good with a strong hit of chocolate, but perhaps too much chocolate that I couldn't taste the coffee. It took a while to get seated despite the booking, stood there but another customer was prioritised over me.
Once ordered the food came out quickly. And the outdoor deck was a warm and sheltered/buzzing atmosphere.
Increasing my overall and food rating from 3 to 4 stars.

For me I think it was just a poor choice of dish. Had the pulled beef toastie. It was very dry. Not enough fats, not fully tender, no sauce or if there was not enough and I couldn't taste it. Bread could have done with butter. It was slow going eating it. Doesn't come with chips.

Hi Joe Frank, I am the Myotherapist at the Ashburton Pool and Recreation Centre ( Warner Ave Physio) for 30 years. I have been to your Cafe on and off, I frequently visit most of the cafe's in Ashburton or at least give them a try. This is the second time I have sat in front of staff and not been asked for food order. I wait patiently in front of the busy staff running around and seem to be invisible. Receive my coffee and still no food order asked for. So with my menu I step up to your counter to order after 15 minutes..... I've seen many busy cafe's with less staff handle busy business better.... Food and coffee is great saves...
