My friends and I were tryna find somewhere to eat on a Saturday night and found this little pub. Much like every Melbourne eatery, it's quite inconspicuous and probably only known to locals, but, inside is quite cozy and staff are nice. Outdoor seating was a bit cold in winter.
As the name suggests, they do in house brewing and the rice lager was actually really nice. Food wise, quality is quite good and flavours are there, but, it is a little expensive for what it is. Overall, nice spot. Might be worth a visit if in the area.
Calamari Flavour: S+, 8.5/10. Well seasoned and tartare worked well. Texture: S+, 8.5/10. Crispy yet still a bit chewy. Value: B, 6/10. $22
Popcorn chicken Flavour: S+, 8.5/10 Texture: S, 8/10. Some bits more batter than anything Value: B, 6/10. $16
Barramundi Flavour: SS+, 9.5/10. Savoury and just a bit sweet. Really nice actually. Texture: SS, 9/10. Perfectly flaky and battered well. Maybe a tiny bit less batter? Tartare: SS, 9/10. Not too sour or eggy. Good compliment. Value: A, 7/10. $35 for essentially fish and chips isn't great but the dish was done well so it's acceptable.
Chicken schnitzel Flavour: S+, 8.5/10. A lot of heavy lifting by the gravy but still quite nice. Texture: SS, 9/10. Well done Value: A, 7/10. $29
Bangers Flavour: S+, 8.5/10. Again, quite nice sausages Texture: SS, 9/10. Value: A, 7/10.
Mash: S+, 8.5/10. Creamy, spiced and savoury. $12 for it separately is...
Read moreSensational brewhouse cuisine. I've had my share of schnitties in my life - and look, if we're being honest, a few other people's shares as well - and none stand up to this one. I almost didn't order it because... well, I mean it's just a schnittie, but it came with slaw and gravy, which tipped me over because it seemed like a good pairing.
Mind: blown.
This was not one of your hammered-flat, dry as drover's dog, 90% crumb 10% chicken schnitzels. It was a succulent, juicy, generous breast cut, crumbed and fried with a pot of tasty gravy that you damn near didn't need it was so juicy. The slaw was simple but still a great pairing - especially with the chicken and gravy in the same bite.
If I had my choice, I'd go with steak-cut chips instead of the shoestring fries, but they were perfectly done for what they were.
I went with their own wheat beer, which I would gladly drink again. It was slightly cloudy, which I enjoy - especially drinking it with a meal.
Service was attentive, although the place wasn't bustling, and they were very allergen-forward and knowledgeable about the menu.
Unlike one review here, I thought the portions were perfect. We all had a main and a dessert and left satisfyingly full.
I will go again and probably order exactly the same thing. It...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of visiting Two Doors Brewery and enjoyed this local new experience in Ashburton. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We visited the brewery after a disappointing experience at another local bar, Oydis, but I am so glad that we decided to pop into Two Doors Brewery instead.
They were able to accommodate our party without any issues and ensured that we had everything we needed. The space was fantastic, and the service was as it should be for a local - warm and inviting.
We appreciate the fact that the staff at Two Doors Brewery truly understand the importance of customer service and hospitality.
Overall, we would highly recommend Two Doors Brewery to anyone looking for a great local spot with delicious beers, cocktails, wines, a fantastic vibe, and wonderful service. They truly understand the importance of providing a positive customer experience and can't wait to...
