Johnny Dante — Restaurant in Melbourne

We sourced our Grand Final pies from Johnny D today. Heated them at home. My steak and mushroom was a deep rich pie with the most amazing pastry and KD’s Chicken & Leek also was a tasty little number. They had a home made look about them and a taste to match.

Previous Reviews I grabbed a couple of coffees and lemon tarts for afternoon tea.   The coffee was smooth, the lemon tarts had a light lemon flavour with a slightly creamy almost custardy texture, very delicious.  I also liked the size, not to small and not too big.

I took a look in the cabinets which had a range of salads, pies and various delicious slices, cakes and muffins. I only ended up having coffee and a tomato cheese toastie. The toastie was a little bit average if I'm honest. For me the bread wasn't that exciting and cheese only just melted. It really could have used another minute or two

Awful customer service. Overcharged.

We had a horrible experience at this cafe. We ordered and paid at the counter and it was only when we took our seats that I realised the price seemed a bit excessive for what we had ordered. When I checked the receipt, I could see that the amount charged was higher than the price on the menu. I went back to the lady behind the counter to get it corrected, however she refused, claiming that prices had recently increased and the menu was outdated. She insisted that the prices were correct in her computer system and therefore could not be changed and refused to refund the difference. It was only a few dollars, but at the very least I would expect an apology and/or for them to honour the prices in the menu. Instead I was met with hostility and rudeness. I would think that any decent business would honour the prices on the menu. She was rude and had an awful attitude.

This morning, I visited a café for a toasty. When I entered, I was holding a coffee from another café. A staff member took my order, and we sat outside, waiting for it. When she brought our food, she rudely told us that they do not allow outside coffee and insisted that we take our order as a takeaway. Her behavior was extremely disrespectful, making us feel unwelcome and ultimately forcing us to leave. She should have informed us about this policy while taking the order instead of addressing it so rudely afterward. There are better ways to communicate such rules, but the way she spoke to us was insulting. This experience was truly disappointing, and I will never forget it. I would never recommend this...
