This restaurant has been a local hot spot since opening in 2016. Seven years on and it’s still going strong with a second branch now in Mount Waverly. The portion servings are generous, great for group gatherings. My all-time faves and highly recommend dishes are the vegemite chicken ribs, yam ring, bean curd & chicken rice with chilli sauce, lobak.
I know what you’re thinking - vegemite? Its actually a real Malaysian dish, however in Malaysia they use Marmite so the dish has been adapted with using Vegemite in Australia. Its sweet & salty flavour with that tinge of vegemite. Its not overpowering and is very tasty. Goes well with steamed rice.
The yam ring is usually a dish made for lunar new year. Also known as prosperity (taro) basket. Its deep fried ring of mashed taro filled with meat & vegetables of your choice. We picked Sweet & Sour pork and omg so soo delicious 😋
The home made chilli sauce has a really great kick and goes so well with the popular steamed chicken rice! The chicken is very tender and silky smooth with fragrant ginger garlic rice.
The soft bean curd with mince meat on sizzling plate is a fave go-to especially with my family. Very tasty and comforting. The salted egg prawns is a must order if you love prawns. The salted egg is flavourful Just a lotta work bcoz you gotta de-shell the prawns!!
The CKT was not bad just a bit too oily for my liking. The Lobak is very tasty with lots of filling inside. The Kuih Dadar pandan crepe was a great way to end the meal. Filled with grated coconut & palm...
Read moreAverage Food, Disgraceful Attitude. Went in for a Friday night dinner and tried their Wat Tan Hor (egg sauce flat rice noodles) and Chicken Curry Laksa. The Wat Tan Hor was probably one of the worst I have tried. Not much char/smokiness to the noodles, sauce tasted flat and gluey. The laksa was alright, nothing memorable but at least it tasted as it should. Average food aside, the real issue with this place though was the appalling attitude/service of the lady with glasses who looked/acted like the owner of the place. Never met such a rude person in my life. We have a young baby and we needed to feed her as well while there. The lady obviously wanted us out ASAP to turnover the table and started making loud comments to others about us feeding her (we had just finished up our meal and were taking a few more minutes for our baby to finish a bit of milk) while standing over us at the table. We got the hint, and got up to leave, but really...a polite comment to us directly that they needed the table back would have been a much more respectful way to kick someone out. Even when we did try to leave, the lady just stood her ground between us at table as we were trying to pack up our stuff/baby bag etc so we could go. The place is pretty cramped, and she made us walk around her to even try go pay. She would not make way even when we asked. I have never met such a passive aggressive person in my life. The disgusting service from this lady was next level, even for an Asian restaurant. Will never come back to this place again. They should take out the N from the name because this...
Read moreCame for dinner with a friend and I wanted to try some new Malaysian dishes as I usually stick to my favourites (Roti or Char Kway Teow). Not a big soup fan but I had my first Pan Mee Soup (so take this with a grain of salt) and I really enjoyed it for the most part. A decent portion and the broth was salty and flavourful, the fish balls (?) were an interesting texture I hadn’t tried before but I enjoyed them, the noodles were a tad tough and chewy for my liking but they might just be like that. Will definitely come back to try more soup dishes. This was a 7.5/10
My friend was curious about the Vegemite Pork Chops and while he wasn’t a fan I thought they were okay but nothing special, unique at least. 5.5/10
I grabbed some dessert which was the Kuih Dadar with Ice cream, having no previous knowledge of Malaysian desserts. The ice cream was nice, the pastry came apart from the inside pretty easily so it was a tad hard to pick up all the coconut flakey filling, but I didn’t mind cus I’m not the biggest coconut flake fan. Despite that it was a nice dessert, but not a must try - 6.5/10. Staff were attentive and friendly. Place is spacious but was busy around Dinner, if you’re looking for a little quiet place I’d go elsewhere. Will be coming again to try some more...
