'Katialo Should Change Its Name to Ta Eidia Well it was certainly KATIALLO! This is NOT the restaurant it once was with its fresh and fine food and quality service. Overpriced for very ordinary food. It has failed to live up to its Founder’s ‘declaration’ of his ancestor’s Greek meals that once graced the page of the menus.
We arrived around 6:45 for a meal only to be told we had to sit outside because the restaurant was fully booked out. Well, at 7:30pm the same 15 tables were still sitting empty. They were still empty when we walked passed at 8:30pm.
So, despite the indifferent and rather rude and cold reception, we did not walk away and sat under the umbrellas (outside). However, rather than have our customary three course meal and drinks, we settled for a main each which was bland to say the least. Same food at any of the other restaurants on the Mall for $10 less per meal.
The salmon on beetroot was tasteless, lacking its dressing (10 minutes wait trying to capture any waiter’s attention for condiments), by which time the salmon had turned cold.
The calamari was adequate (have eaten better for less $) while the chips were dry; the accompanying “salad’ was nothing more than half a tomato chopped in quarters, four slices of cucumber, two olives and a thin slice of feta cheese.
Upon departure we paid the exact amount on the bill - not a cent more, not a cent less.
‘Katiallo’ is advised to change its name to TA EIDIA (The Same).
Such a SHAME. When it first opened it was our favourite restaurant and we would dine frequently and bring our out-of-town friends along. Alas, no more. We will never...

Read moreWas there for dinner last Sat 16th Feb for a friend's 50th Bday and our entire table did not have a very enjoyable experience there. Tried to order a cider from menu but they tried to sell me a cheaper product for same price as what was on menu (which they had none of) We're told to order platters as we would get our food faster, but this took a long time and a hand full of people who ordered individually were served first. (I would have ordered individually if I'd known that but the waiter told us differently) When we finally got our food we were all wondering why we had no salad to find out that it should have come with our platters, so we had dry food and then salad at the very end after we enquired why we had none. Mmm, staff were quiet short and rude. Even just asking for water jugs. They just never came after we tried to order coffee with our cake, we were told that the coffee machine shut down 2hrs prior, I've have never heard of this b4 as they never even told us that they were closing the coffee machine. Also they tried to charge a ridiculous amount for my friend to bring her own cake that they would cut and serve, and on the night they just placed the cake, plates and spoons on the table and walked off, never cut the cake or did anything else, leaving the birthday girl to cut her own cake. Rather disappointed over the whole experience. Never had staff so short and rude. We felt rushed and definitely not important to...
