It would have been highly unlikely that I would have found this absolute gem on my own, and I'm glad Kyedon came up as a recommendation via word of mouth.

Usually me and some friends who grew up together do a Friday night pub sesh, but it's been getting hard to get the boys together on a Friday night these days because of responsibilities as we all age.

The suggestion came through for an early morning breakfast in Sunbury, and Kyedon came up in conversation - I misheard and thought 'Kyneton?' No! KYEDON! In Sunbury!!

We met here on Sunday morning, and picked the alfresco area just out front which is covered and protected from the elements, it's quite a lovely area.

The venue itself appears to be a converted house, we were sat down and given menus very quickly, with a waitress coming out to us just about perfectly timed.

I ordered a dirty chai latte and had the bacon and maple pancakes - my lord, this was the best pancakes I've had and the bacon was cooked PERFECTLY.

The coffee was great too, also the waitress managed to recall all their cake/desert options solely from her memory which was impressive as it was what felt like 20 different options.

The pricing is on point too - to the point Kyedon punches well above it's weight when you compare the prices you pay to the food you receive in return, as of the time of writing everything on the breakfast menu is sub $20 with the coffee being sub $5 if you're going for regular milk plus the normal brewed coffee options.

It's on Ligar Street opposite the aquatic center and the tennis courts, this is a hidden gem in Sunbury and it takes the cake as THE BEST cafe in Sunbury.

All three of us were impressed, finally a shout out to the front of house staff who really makes the experience at Kyedon - you guys are noticed and we appreciate your passion and love for the hospitality industry.

We'll be coming back again and I suspect our Friday night pub sesh has ascended to Sunday morning breakfast.

Keep up...

Kyedon definitely has convenience on its side, being right across from the Sunbury Aquatic Centre, close to a great walking track, and surrounded by a few nice parks. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.

The food is pretty average. I once ordered scrambled eggs with avocado and found almost a whole eggshell mixed through the eggs, while the avocado was rock-hard and oddly vinegary. On another visit, I ordered an omelette that had simply been folded in half with two full strips of bacon inside, uncut, it was very strange and unappetising.

The service also leaves a lot to be desired. The staff aren’t particularly friendly, especially the short-haired older lady, who often comes across as quite rude. Tables are regularly left uncleared, and we’ve had to clean them ourselves on more than one occasion. The high chairs are filthy! left out in the rain, sometimes full of water, and I’ve even seen mould on them. Also there is not much space for big groups indoors, so you have to sit outside, but management refuse to turn the outside heaters on.

After our most recent experience with unfriendly service, we’ve decided not to return. It’s a real shame, because the location is so convenient, but unfortunately the poor food and un friendly vibe make it impossible...

Hi Kyedon crew, This morning I had my first visit to your cafe and I was thoroughly impressed. Being a long time resident of Sunbury I've tried most of our local eateries and I have found my new go to happy place...🥰 I had the pleasure of being seated in your beautiful rear garden and had the best brunch I've had in a long time. Not only was the food freshly made, served hot and delivered in a surprisingly short time frame, your staff were welcoming, friendly and chatty which is really refreshing. You can tell they enjoy their jobs. The menu is very well priced and has a wide range to choose from and great value for money. This is a hidden gem, that although I'd like to shout out to all of Sunbury, I'm just a tad selfish thinking to keep this treasure to myself, so I'm not disappointed if there's no availability when I next visit. Well done to all of you for creating a welcoming place to enjoy delicious food whilst taking in a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. I'll be coming back...

I love Kyedon. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. There’s a little gift shop, nice outside seating in the front and a garden with seating out the back. Last time I was there I ordered a coffee, which was amazing! I also ordered berry pancakes. I didn’t enjoy the pancakes because the berries were mushy and really sweet. I think they were possibly canned or over cooked and marinated in maple syrup. It was too sweet and sickly. It would be much nicer with fresh berries and maple syrup just over the pancakes or even in a little jug to pour yourself. The vanilla Ice cream on top was nice :)

Came here due the high rating from Google.we had high expectations of the coffee. But got quite disappointed to get 2 cups of latte without any latte art.under one coffee cup the saucer plate is also very dirty (about half teaspoon of dark brown coloured small particles ,not sure if it was coffee grounds or mud). Food is average standard, not bad also nothing exceptional. The beans were too sweet, tasted like from the can from supermarket.Bacon was crispy and nice just the way we liked. The young waitress was nice.
