Lucky Catch — Restaurant in Melbourne

Haven't been here in a while but it's always been good in the past, not so much tonight however! I knew it would be busy so I ordered ahead along with a pizza from another shop. I was told to give them 10 to 15 mins to pick up which, considering I was coming from rosebud was fine. I figured the chips would easily be ready before the pizza so I headed there first I actually took a bit longer and got there around 20 mins after ordering and find that its still not ready yet! I was told by the young girl leaning all over the front counter that they were just waiting for my fish to cook so I had to sit and wait. Just after I sat down I noticed there was a parcel of chips just sitting on the front counter which i thought must have been for a customer waiting outside but after a nearly 10 min wait I get told my fish was ready then to my absolute amazement they also hand me the parcel of chips on the front counter! I couldn't believe they had just not only made me wait all that time but then they also present me with luke warm chips and when I said something about it the best they could do was say do I want fresh chips made up! I'd already waited half an hour for these ones!! They couldn't seem to see what the problem was but I cant understand why they just left them sitting on the counter when they could have at least kept them warm somewhere! I really didnt think it was a very good look that the young girl taking the orders spent the entire time I was there leaning all over the counter, really not the best look for a takeaway food place at al!! Lucky catch is set back from the main Street within a car park and looks pretty dated and a bit dingy from the outside therefore it was a very pleasant surprise that the food was so amazing! We were staying in Safety Beach for the weekend with friends and ordered a family pack, 'pack for 2' and Calamari rings. It was a perfect amount of food for 6 people and every one of us was impressed with how delicious the food was. The fish in particular was lovely, the batter didn't seem greasy at all and the sides (dim Sims, potato cakes, chips, Calamari) were all equally delicious. As a local supporting local, its seems much harder trying to find a good, quick fast food take away. On busy warm nights your order pick up order is 40 minutes wait. When you give them 45-50 minutes and pick up your order, you find they haven't even started cooking your order and pending what you order they will quote you another 10-15 minutes before its ready. This is unacceptable. As a local this is the normal time you would wait if you go into the shop and order directly over the counter. Why bother having a phone in service. The food is generally better than the other fish and chips in the local area, but the service is appalling and disgraceful. I would rather drive to McDonalds in Rosebud for...
