The Blackthorn Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

I had gone all through Dromana to look for an ice-cream shop but all bloody closed on a wednesday! So went to this cafe and asked the nice lady if they would just give a scoop of ice cream in a cup...she clearly had to ask the boss/ manager ( didn't act like a boss) if it was okay. My 3 year old was happy with just vanilla ice cream...he said no sorry they don't do that.. i said to the lady are you sure like it's just a scoop of ice cream for a little boy in which we have been searching for and no where sells individual ice cream. When I walked away the apparent boss yelled out ' Don't tell me what to do!' I know very childish. I just would have thought the cafe would consider making a 3 year old boy happy by adjusting something! I would have sat down and ordered something with it but unfortunately that horrible man who seem to be the boss was angry and showed his true colours to the public. Very disappointed. Not...

GREAT LITTLE CAFE IN SAFETY BEACH We dropped in for breakfast on a Sunday. The staff were just delightful - friendly, well-informed on the menu, attentive and fitted us in even though it was Mothers day and we'd arrived without a reservation! the service is slick, the menu expansive and the food quality great! Options for vegetarians and meat eaters and quite a few "add-on" options to dishes. The seating is comfortable and generously spaced. People with mobility issues will be fine here as it is a very modern facility with even flooring and wide spaces between tables. The cafe is within a shopping centre and has ready access to parking (including handicapped) and is immediately connected to the shopping centre. This looked like a nice cafe. Sadly when we requested a "traditional iced coffee" and explained what that was (is everyone dieting these days? ha ha) the barista refused to make one in a rather mocking, unkind tone of voice. I would have been happy paying for extra milk instead of ice. I remained pleasant and thanked them as we left the cafe. We have previously owned a small cafe and found that flexibility, especially in something this simple, is key to obtaining return business.
