I was lucky enough to discover Mamor this trip to Melbourne on a visit with my eldest daughter.
Mamor is located in Collingwood an eclectic outter suburb of greater Melbourne. Mamor was easy to reach via the bus and a short walk from the main road.
My review will start at the very least with hand on heart, having had multiple High Tea experiences around the world including some really big names in the High Tea Market. I can absolutely say Mamor was the best venue and High Tea I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. (Huge call from a super High Tea critic) and not often able to tick everything box.
Mamor ticks all the boxes for the following reasons.
Penny our hostess greeted us personally upon arrival by name with such warmth and a lovely smile. (Instant ✅ ) Penny gave us a choice of seating and proceeded to explain the menu and checked for allergies etc. Penny was on hand and extremely attentive throughout the entire service.
The decor and styling at Mamor is absolutely gorgeous, reminiscent of a 1920-30s high end venue some where else in the world. The Fine Bone China was lovely all matching and the particular pattern assigned to your table was used completely throughout the experience (so no crazy sets ). Every element of the experience was attention to detail (another trait I’m a renowned for). (Tick ✅ )
The High Tea selection was extensive and plentiful, a mixture of savoury and sweet and absolutely delicious including the chocolate treats at the end of the experience. Pink lemonade was a lovely point of difference served in classic old school parfait glasses, table water in gold hand etched glassware. ✅
Janet and Penny should be very proud of their venue, product , experience and exceptional customer service attempted by many and rarely achieved by few. ✅
I will absolutely be touting Mamor as a must do High Tea to family, friends and work colleagues while in Melbourne’s. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy this magnificent experience all over again or one of the specialty themed dinner service experiences Janet and Penny are now planning.
Thanks ladies for a wonderful memorable experience and yummy food...
Read moreWhat an absolute delight to visit Mamor. The entire experience was sensational (other than the part where my car got towed, be vigilant with parking times!) I felt as though I had stepped onto the set of Moulin Rouge (which happens to be one of my favourite films) it had such a luxurious atmosphere and old world charm. We could have been in a European tea salon.
This would be an amazing venue for a private function and they do all sorts of amazing things for hens parties including tea readings or life drawing. Kind of makes me want to get married again.. The high tea comes out in three stages (it reflects the traditional three tiers) which gives you time to really enjoy your bottomless tea options or a bottle of champagne. We went for two of my favourite blends; French earl grey and vanilla rooibos.
I also had a pink lemonade which has an iced hibiscus tea base. The first course was savouries and the second was scones freshly made and served warm with house made strawberry and plum jam. I thoroughly enjoyed the jam as the plum gave it a slight tartness. So many jams are overly sweet. There were also several biscuits on here the absolute standout of which was a chocolate covered gingerbread cookie. Unbelievably yummy.
Our final dessert course included three items and I was hard pressed to pick a favourite.
Before leaving we were given one of their gorgeous artisan chocolates and allowed to select another to take home. I opted for pina colada with white rum and in keeping with the theme of the day, it was sensational.
This has shot straight to the top of my list for a lovely high tea. All of the details here are stunning and opulent. The experience is extravagant and decadent and one you won’t...
Read moreWhat people need to know: It is a waste of time trying to get a booking by using the website, I guess you're better off phoning. Why: I have not been able to book a table, despite multiple attempts and an elaborate email conversation. What the business owner needs to know: My partner and I wanted to celebrate her birthday there with just the two of us and after filling out the online booking form we were told by email response that the venue had been booked for a private function at the time we were interested in, which is fair enough; but the email had been so poorly written as to actually state we could come in sometime between 1 and 11:30PM instead, which lined up with the time we had requested in the first place. So another confused day or so goes by before there is another response pretending as if there had been no error, but this time at least we were making progress and a new time was confirmed. Now I just needed to make a deposit, so another email and another day later, I have the banking details (I have purchased cars easier than this) and notice the booking is for a whole SEVENTEEN DAYS later than what we had requested in black and white when we filled out the online form! At this point, we are graciously generous in thinking someone probably had a really bad day so lets just fix it. But wait, it gets better, we can't fix it because the day we wanted to book falls within their Christmas shutdown period and we should not have been able to even select the date on their web form, let alone correspond about it for days! It was all a huge waste of time, we certainly wont forget this place, but all for the...
