I ordered $150 worth of takeaway and asked for it to be ready for 5.45pm for takeaway pick up and was told this is ok. At 5.15pm the owner called me to say my food was ready now for pick up 30 minutes early. I said this was not good enough as I was not ready to pick up and I didn’t want cold food. This was the first time I have tried it since the new owners took over (new owners very friendly) and the food was sadly disppointing! The batter on the chicken was REALLY over cooked (not the golden puffs they used to be). The sweet & sour sauce was not the usual syrup with onions and capsicum in it, it was the texture of tomato sauce. The singapore noodled were practically tasteless and watery. The rice was ok but the chinese pork sub par. The beef and black bean also didn't have the same richness of flavour. Even the prawn crackers are not as tasty. EASILY the best Chinese food in the South East of Melbourne. Had an absolutely cracking meal with the family for Mothers Day. Every single dish was a winner. From the short soup, proper fried rice, tasty Singapore noodles, sizzling beef was the winner (of a very good selection) barbecue pork, heck even the Chinese broccoli was fantastic. Where a number of Chinese restaurants are hit and miss, these guys clearly care about the end result.
