Mapleton Kitchen — Restaurant in Melbourne

My partner and I have been here 3 times for coffees. The first time, we waited over half an hour for two coffees. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to try it again. The second time, we were the only people in the place so everything went well. The third time was the worst though. We ordered two coffees. One of them arrived after half an hour. The second arrived after 45 minutes. Mine was the second. It was meant to be a cappuccino but they forgot to sprinkle chocolate on the top. I took the coffee up to ask for a sprinkle of chocolate but the lady put a whole heaped tablespoon of chocolate directly in the middle of the coffee and it immediately sank to the bottom... Needless to say, we're not...

For a place ranked so highly, I expected more than what I got. The place is a lot smaller than I expected and the service was really prompt.

I ordered crumbed chicken and chips, and it was a lot smaller than I expected. I thought they would serve me a full chicken breast, but it was just chicken breast pieces that definitely didn't equate to one full breast. The chips were tasty and so was the salad.

In saying that it was nothing extraordinary, and I didn't mind it. I expected some top quality food for a place that was so highly talked about. Don't know if I'd return, but it's a good place to try out...

I'm quite disappointed to have to leave this review. I've eaten here several times and the coffee is good. Today I took my qualified seeing eye dog inside. The owner immediately was negative. She reluctantly said we could sit but said that she might need to ask us to leave. I thought perhaps that she was not aware of the rules for guide dogs in Victoria so I showed her the card. This seemed to make her more annoyed, and she even suggested she was scared of us while she stood over us and made us feel uncomfortable.
