I have been here a couple of times because I love Vietnamese food and I extra love Vietnamese fusion food and this is one of the OGs in the Vietnamese fusion world. The place itself is always vibing! More casual then most of their sister restaurants, the music was pumping, the staff were smiling and you really feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. In terms of food though I have mixed reviews. The grilled banh mi could have banh better - a lil carrot or cucumber and some thicker pate would have made this a 10 out of 10 dish. It was also slightly burnt but I'm not holding that against them. The squid salad is mint loaded and a winning dish - full of flavour and dressed just right. And the chicken and broken rice bowl was just that, chicken and rice that was less broken than I would have liked. For Vietnamese it was good, for the price tag I’m definitely not complaining, but for Vietnamese fusion it was just missing its wow factor. For vegans they have a solid vegan menu - the mushroom pho was great and I loved the Hanoi spring rolls too!

I recently attended a work Christmas party at Hanoi Hannah Vol. II in Elsternwick, and we opted for the set menu due to the extensive selection. The set menu offered exceptional value, providing a generous array of dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed every item, with the grilled banh mi standing out as my favorite. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was particularly pleasant during our late lunch, as the restaurant was relatively quiet. Hanoi Hannah Vol. II, in Elsternwick, is part of the Commune Group’s vibrant stable of Vietnamese restaurants. The interior design features recycled timber floorboards, exposed red brick walls, and reclaimed furniture, contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere. The spacious layout includes an all-weather al fresco area and a substantial bar with ringside seating, creating a versatile and engaging dining environment. I highly recommend Hanoi Hannah Vol. II for its delicious food, excellent service, and pleasant ambiance.

We had our wedding anniversary dinner here. It was an amazing experience that is totally worth the rare 5th star. We had the "vegan all in" that was a delicious 3 course meal. Amazing starters of "prawn" crackers, with peanut satay to die for, spring rolls and pickled veg. Delicious. Then eggplant / aubergine tacos: the texture was amazing with a deep fried taco made from something (not corn) that I can't remember sorry. A delicious yellow curry, Thai style, was the main with some rice and a refreshing pickled veg salad (different to the starter) The final cacao mouse had these delicious crunchy bits of yumminess it made it amazing. Service was great too, they really looked after us, and made sure our choices were aligned with our vegan values :)

I am a fan of Thai food( not all but some); but my daughter said why not mum, you try some Vietnamese food today for a change.At the same time I am into warm food, never prefer a cold meal for main meals!! Trust me I ended up ordering this meal for lunch, as my daughter recommended!! Trust me it was so delicious even though there were many fresh (cold) food. The warm beef balanced the whole dish & I loved that dish. It was so delicious. Taylor the beautiful staff did an awesome service. We sat out side & beyond the railing was the pavement ; so the buses were stopping and that spot was not the best. Other than that all in all was good!! Thanks indeed for the great dish!!

honestly, love Hanoi Hannah! a more casual eatery but does not produce average but rather delicious, fresh, and flavoursome food! every item, even those fried, are extremely fresh and tasty, not oil and heavy and instead you'll leaving feeling satisfied and light! loved the rice paper rolls, the sashimi went better than i anticipated inside these especially paired with fresh vietnamese herbs. on a colder occasion the curries and pho are also full of flavour and comfort, and you've got to give the papaya salad a go to for a refreshing side! service was extremely friendly, prompt and attentive! nice vibe and bustling environment too, thanks Hanoi!

Delicious Vietnamese food in a cozy restaurant. We were a large group so decided to order everything on their appetizer list and just share around. The cured salmon, pork ribs and lime/pepper squid were all excellent. From there I tried the lemongrass beef vermicelli bowl which was also quite nice. The pork belly curry which our group shared was a bit underwhelming, but all in all, we left quite happy with all the food that was served. The place itself is nice, although very dark. We all had to use our phone lights to read the menu which was a bit annoying. Service was excellent. No complaints on that front.
