Moby — Restaurant in Melbourne

The service here is terrible. Staff lost our order docket and it wasn't until the kitchen staff noticed we had been sitting there for 45 minutes and people who came after us were being served their meal, that they queried the wait staff what our order was. After a bit of frantic searching for thr docket the wait staff came over to us to let us know they had lost our docket. No apology, instead asked us to repeat our order again.

Unfortunately my partner had an appointment to get to, so I ended up eating by myself whilst my partner had to attend to her appointment very hungry. By the time my order came out, it was over an hour since we had put our original order in. Even when I went to pay, there was no apology for the mix up and it felt like I was the one burdening the wait staff.

The reason I had not queried where our order was earlier was because the table next to us was also experiencing slow service and they had queried where their order was, but was assured it was on it's way. As such, I thought slow service was just the norm at this place.

Extremely disappointed by the customer service. Me and a friend were extremely excited to go to Moby today for a catch-up and our experience from beginning to end was horrible. At the door the girl that greeted us had a really unwelcoming look and attitude. We were told that we only had 20 minutes to have coffee, and we said it was ok. We placed our order and it took about 10 minutes for the coffees to be delivered (although that was 3 people at the bar area and no other coffee order as far as we noticed). One of the coffees were wrong (magic instead of a mocha), we let the staff know and they brought us another coffee, a cappuccino. Also wrong. We told the staff again that the coffee was wrong and they said it was right (note that the coffee was delivered as a cappuccino, tasted like a cappuccino and yet we didn’t get the right coffee). Both our coffees weren’t good, we barely drank it. When we got to pay the girl from before (still with a very unwelcoming face) didn’t even ask us how was everything, she didn’t really say anything, just got us the card machine with the amount to pay. A lovely designed cafe with a nice outdoor area and lots of natural light but aside from that there isn't much to differentiate it from other cafes in the area. The menu is tired and boring with cliche brunch options that you could at most south east suburbs cafes. Portion sizes versus value isn't great expect to pay around $22 for a main. We ordered the lamb shoulder and the duck waffles, both pretty good in their own right; the lamb shoulder was tasty and the pita nicely toasted but would have expected a larger portion for the dollars paid, the duck was lovely but we were confused with the pairing of lettuce and the honey glaze a little overpowering. The lettuce added little value to the meal. Service wise, not great, staff weren't warm and proactive, the front of house interaction was awkward when they assumed i was with another person of the same ethnicity. I'd seek other options in the Armadale unless you wanted to get average food and average service at an instagram...
