Been a regular local customer for the past few years. This bakery hasnt ever been something to write home about BUT hasn’t ever disappointed due to having the classic bakery goods you can expect. It’s not fancy, it’s not ambitious, just a simple bakery which makes it a safe and reliable choice when it comes to choosing your lunch. Until now…This has gone out of control! I haven’t been in a few months and I was in disbelief when I heard $6.85 for the price of a simple steak and bacon pie…. Like be real! It’s a simple pie! Much better off going to Proserpina and paying a dollar more for a large, gourmet, chunky steak pastry pie that comes with FREE homemade chutney. I understand price increases have been inevitable to combat inflation for businesses but this is disgustingly expensive. Don’t take advantage of the system, you’re only taking advantage of your customers. Talk about supporting the locals! Ripping the locals off! If you want to charge this much then at least give us our moneys worth! Not a small thin pie with mediocre filling. Be realistic Mount Dandenong Bakery.

Stopped here this afternoon and the staff are all extremely friendly and there was a great range of options. I got a cauliflower pie, lemon slice and a coffee which were all lovely. The only downside is things are quite expensive, but given the area and rising costs of everything it's understandable. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.

Nice little bakery, coffee was good. Had a curried pastie which was fantastic, filling needed a little bit more salt though, and the carrots should be slightly more tender, they weren't fully incorporated to the mixture. Aside from that, it was brilliant. Nice staff.

"I miss bakeries like this" is a direct quote from an absolute pastry fiend, so hopefully they take that as the massive compliment it is. We stopped at the Deli Platter for breakfast the previous morning, and I noticed all the locals going past to go for the bakery, so we dropped in on the way out on Sunday morning after a stay. We had the chunky steak pies and both of us agreed that the mix was how a pie should taste, not the grey, gravy washed mince that they've become, but a real, honest to goodness decent pie. Only complaint, and it's only a personal thing, is that my wife wanted more pastry. Because it was delicious. Backhanded complaint, maybe? I had an apple turnover which was large but not super impressive, though fresh cream was amazing, and nice pastry. Apple mix was a little bland, but still really good overall. I'm just a fussy old so-and-so when it comes to cream apple turnovers. My wife had ecstacy in custard form, apparently, because she was doing the Pooh-bear dance of tummy-happiness while she was eating the vanilla slice. "Best one I've ever had" and that's the highest form of praise from her, because she's had more than one or two, growing up in the Yarra Valley... Great staff, getting along and being there, just a wonderful, country bakery feel to it, which is a lost art that we should all treasure, really. Well done to the team at the Mount...

Decided to stop and grab a coffee and something sweet. The workers were all in a big laughing conversation with each other as the customers were waiting to be served. As we were waiting a worker there with flowers in her hair was questioning a customer as to why he order a lactose free milk coffee but buying a vanilla slice. The man answered back in a polite way but it was obvious he felt uncomfortable by the situation which in turn made us kind of uncomfortable too. We ordered our coffees. They were normal, average, nothing to rave about. The french vanilla slice really didn't have flavour and the top cream level had a strange taste. The eclairs were stale tasting. For paying close to 30 dollars i won't be...
